@ Hosting Providers Using Rapidspeeds

Well there are some pretty strong speculations that Rapidspeeds is gone & the servers won't be back online .

I'd like to ask what steps Hosting Companies will take in that event . Many ''Companies'' here on Wjunction uses Rapidspeeds servers especially RDP Providers.

I'll put it as simply as i can :- The issue with Rapidspeeds is basically the provider's problem , not the clients :

1. Will Clients be Refunded ?

2. The Servers Replaced ?

3. Run away like RS might do ? ;)

I actually tried in the main thread but certain mods did not like my
post therefore it was deleted...

I provided all the info but it was simply deleted.

In that case I hold the Wj mod or mods responable for how thing went down. iHate's warning could have let to a massive backup/move operation saving everyone a lot of hassle.

My warning was not that early, it was when things started going tits up,
i doubt it would of been enough time as i wasn't aware instantly of what happened.

But When i gave my warning the company was still a company,
but now officially they have dissolved according to companies house.

I am following the discussions from the beginning. He is probably mentioning about the comment after the servers went down. Wouldn't be much of a help for backup purposes.

Edit: iHate cleared that himself too while I was typing.

Anyone who thinks that paypal wont get your money back , chances are it wont ,but if you go to your cc company ,your chances of your getting the money back is a lot higher .

Run away, probably. Most of them here are kids who can't afford the real world pricing on those servers (Yep, RS was selling them way below the average market price).

Well we from BuyWindowsVPS.com will be replacing the servers we have lost due to RapidSpeeds issue and the clients are being notified regarding the same now.

Not true, We see charge backs from time to time, sometimes PayPal will refund instantly some times they wont, none receipt, not what i ordered etc etc, If PayPal see such a large amount of these all for the same reason you think PayPal wont do anything about this? Also if they were to get such complaints then they would also imply the Rolling Reserve to RapidSpeeds account for said purposes if you think that's not true also check out their site or give them a call :)

You talk here about charge backs .. ie items paid by creditcard and charge back by the clients. If Paypal receives such a charge back from the CC company Paypal has to charge the recipient and return the money to the CC company in order to get credited to the CC holder.

What we talk about here is Paypal Buyer Protection ie goods and services paid with Paypal Balance.

PayPal Buyer Protection only applies to payments for certain tangible, physical goods that can be shipped. Payments for the following are not eligible for re-imbursement under PayPal Buyer Protection:
  1. Any item that is prohibited under the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy
  2. Intangibles
  3. Services
And Paypal handles thousands of disputes every day. Do you really think that they notice if 100 rapidspeeds customers make claims? Paypal handles all these disputes case-by-case.

Furthermore, the change is slim there is money left in the Rapidspeeds account.

Correct. See the above.

OK, but I m sure there ware other members that ware aware of the problems that RS was facing. Why did they choose not to give out warnings? RS had nothing to loose, only their clients!

CC company will say....go read the TOS again...They dont have anything to do it.
Paypal cant do anything...once the money has been flushed out from the account.

It was struck off the register because the new company is no longer based in the UK for tax reasons. The request to be taken off was done over 6 months ago if I recall correctly.

While yes, a 5-6Gbit DDoS directed at a single server wouldn't be too bad, the Cisco 6500 series router, which is fairly vulnerable to DDoS. (Again, not saying this is/was the cause - but the timing was coincidental).

@sniffdog, same here. Disputed 3 times for intangible goods and only won once and that was against hotfile when they decided to immediately refund and close the dispute. The other two times, seller escalated to a claim and my case got shot down straightaway.

However, I do believe that if you can call up Paypal and manage to convince them, there's still hope. Everybody needs to band together and call em up.

Any update on when will the server get back online,
can you reach Darren or Gavin?

If you wanna make a name for yourself over here or wherever you sell,NOW is the place.load your clients with freebies for the 'network outage'.they will spread your name.if you dont refund them, your name will be destined to fate like rs.

I speculate that they have abandoned ship and sailed off to a tax paradise with monthly invoices that's been paid. I posted the companies house screenshot in the first place and well. Frankly, this looks like a hit and run.

If they were in their right minds and ran a service company, they would have informed people through either their Twitter or forums. There have been several hours to communicate to customers but they haven't taken it.

There is absolutely no reason to NOT do it.
"But what if they have no updates on ETA?" Well, then they could inform customers that they haven't. There is NO excuses what so ever. It just isn't.

I'm leaving for MyDediServers. Thank you for lost data and my business taking a hit before christmas, my best time of the year.

Come on please don't attempt to feed us BS,
All the servers are offline for more than 30 Hours now,
RapidSpeeds have not informed clients at all what has happened except
quote that they have had a 5-6Gbit ddos attack when you have a 50Gbit+
network so tell us what has happened?

I'll tell you what happened,
Darren didn't pay bills, he decided to go on nice holidays and buy himself a new house instead,
LeaseWeb wants their money, Darren doesn't have any,
LeaseWeb offered him to pay 50% in return to get all the servers put back online,
(near enough in the 6 figure region in total) and then pay the remainder in instalments.

But Darren is not going to do that because he literally has no money at all
because he leased a bunch of servers in the US which are not profitable...

He overbought

Darren doesn't even have the decency to inform his staff of what has actually happened.

This is a lost cause everyone should attempt to make a dispute,
call them if need be explain what has happened tell them you have been scammed!

And also this new company name you guys are registering does not exist.
