What happen to Bolt.cd forum

Yeah meepz always had major trust and communication issues and it's increasingly looking liked he has now stiffed the community.

Some good news! - Quite a few Bolt refuges are presently heading across to silentground.org.

Apparently it has opened it's doors to new registrations for a limited time (perhaps 2 weeks or so).

*(I added this information to the "Sites similar to Bolt" thread, but had a few editing issues ... sorry Oldone3pp)
LoL . Open doors and they have less than 4000 users atm . Stop fooling around please .

From experience, I can tell you that registrations were closed to the public a day or 2 ago and invitations were needed to join.

Also I think their membership was much larger before they lost their database and also the creator of the site, and could likely swell quickly if If Bolt refuges find what they are looking for in a well organized forum.

Personally if it were merely a large number of members I was seeking, I would simply stick with Warez-bb or Tehparadox.

But I'm open to further suggestions Sasa ... if you feel at all like being surprisingly helpful!

would not be missed,seriously
their idea of posting in a same topic by different user for each movie was dumbest idea I ever seen

Breaking news on BOLT.... Posted today on another system..... This is a copy and paste from a thread about BOLT.

A friend who is also on Bolt.CD has received a message from Meepze (Bolt.cd MOD), they are apparently working on the issue and are hoping to have it back up, if possible, as soon as possible. I personaly wish them every success, nice forum, populated by nice people in general, something i am also detecting with regards to this forum. I know what you mean about the Spammers/lamers who seemed to creep onto the site, i think with regards to the other Bolt site, this was a plan put in place a while back due to other issues, i think if i remember rightly that it was widely discused on Bolt.cd as being there as a backup for just such an event, i think someones crystal ball was fully charged and functional when they had that idea. Hope this helps !

Let's all calm down.

This is still speculation since who knows who the friend is and who knows if what he said is accurate.
All we know for sure is the database is messed up.

As to other sites -

silentground is a very modest small site with very little to offer.
the main sites for ebooks are
mobilism org
warez-bb

The former site's search function is excellent, the latter site's search function is total garbage.

WBB is also good for tv shows and movies (the search function actually works well for those).

For tv shows go here

aweseomdl ru
primewire ag (streams)
rlsbb com

There are any number of other places you can easily find.

For warez/applications, try WBB.

Bolt is generally an ebook site with a wealth of material and active posters.
It's a low bullshit site unlike Mobilism's ebook section with too many nasty mods with crappy attitudes.

Yes, tehparadox is a large ebook site but unless you're looking for romance, there's litlte point going there. One of the main ebook mods is also an incredible bitch who gets her jollies killing user accounts.

For ebooks, there are currently only 3 viable places, with Bolt being one of them.

The site is not dead.
It's simply offline until the problem(s) can be fixed and it would be nice if the general attitude of the site being dead and gone for good would stop.

Google:
facebook bolt cd for its UNOFFICIAL Facebook page which is riddled with speculation.

It is not endorsed by Bolt. Whoever is running the page is diligently deleting posts he doesn't like.
Bolt at no point in time has ever had a FB page.

Let's all simply take a deep breath and wait for the site to get repaired and back online.
It could happen they have to restore an old database which may mean the last several weeks' posts could disappear. We won't know until it's back up and running.

Crap happens people - last year WBB was offline half the year.
Don't get paranoid simply because Bolt is down for a very brief period so far.

any bolt active poster here or member ?

Yes. Poster on many sites (including Bolt where I am a VIP member) of e-books, audio books, films and TV, with something of a specialism in 'foreign' i.e. non-English subtitled television.

Yes.

I am a avid poster and user on bolt. I am really hoping meepz comes back and fixes this. Ive help to "pay the bills" in the past when I have had the money and if thw is the case I would gladly help out again. I love this site and have been a member since 2011. It would be so disheartening id the site goes down as I have made lots of friends here as well. I wish I knew how to get in touch with meepz to find out what is going on.

Ditto...

I've been a member since 2010 and have also helped to pay the bills on many occasions. In fairness, I've gotten a lot in return for it i.e. Mac software and HD movies. Hoping the issues that they are having can be resolved and looking forward to seeing the site back up and running again

Like most sites there is good and bad about Bolt. I have been a user and supporter, both financially and with posted material, for a number of years. I have had a few problems there, I lost a considerable number of TV shows i.e. a whole 'Tube Collection' after the last major crash. I also discovered a problem whereby a Private Special Interest Group I was running turned out not be as Private as it was supposed to be. The Groups were subsequently removed for security reasons. My biggest complaint about the site is/was always the fact that people can effectively copy and paste a previous post, and claim it as 'new' and by so doing increase their post count and member status. In some cases that meant you could have 30 or more people posting the same copied original files.

There were always regular requests for financial help but in recent times these became more frequent and the reason seemed to be the development of Bit Bolt. The last word on that before the crash was that they had lost their developer who needed to devote more time to to personal issues. At the last 'cup rattling' where he said Bit Bolt development was eating into funds, I asked meepz if he was sure there was a user demand for it. It has been available in Beta to certain categories of member for some time now. I am in one of those categories but didn't use it. As far as I could see it was only a tiny minority of those to whom it was available who were using it. I will acknowledge that those who did seemed to be very happy with it, but it struck me that there was an imbalance between the amount of development resource (financial and physical) being put into it and the take-up by users. True, there were always a lot of people asking when it was going to be made generally available, but most of them seemed to be non-contributing freeloaders. There was no response from meepz to my question on that, well except I got the same donation request again.

Despite these issues I still considered the site to be worthwhile, and will go back to using and posting there if they get it back on line.

Despite being a member on a couple of forums that asks for donations I've never liked them, none our sites does it & never will.....we do have one donator on one forum but he was never asked...he insisted. My belief is that if you build a site then have to rely/ask members for donations to stay up then you should not have built the forum to begin with, to me it's a hobby and a place to share things freely, isn't that the whole purpose of warez? Maybe I'm just too old school to know any different IDK but our forums are growing every day, we have pretty much the same content as any other forum and everything is free and we don't ask for a single dime from anyone for it.

I run my own by invitation only site, primarily foreign subtitled television. A number of people when invited to join offered to donate towards costs, but I always declined the offers. The purpose of the site is to share stuff I like with like-minded souls who had followed posts I made on other sites, not to make money. Everything posted is my own purchase, rip, or capture and translated by my working partner. To avoid even the suggestion that we were out to make money from what we did we made sure we had no 'affiliate' memberships, no referrals, and no ads on the hosts we used for posting and everything posted is accessible by free users on those sites. Some may not be fortunate enough to be able to afford to do that, but it has always been my way of doing things.

I registered here so I could stick up for Bolt.

I joined Bolt years ago and it has been my go to site for almost any kind of download since. I don't upload files, so the occasional cup rattling maybe a couple of times a year was fine with me. I only ever gave small amounts which were always acknowledged and was 'rewarded' by being moved up the hierarchy (there's not much advantage to this, just small things).

I am not interested in the development of Bit Bolt, but I don't have any problem with it being developed for those who do want to use torrents.

*meepz* isn't always around, but as the guy whose neck would presumably be on the block if things went very bad, I think I can cut him some slack. We all have real lives with real problems and he's never been out of touch for that long. I certainly don't think anyone was cup rattling with a view to ripping off members.

I hope like hell Bolt comes back and will continue to support those braver than me to provide the platform for file sharing, especially when it's as good as Bolt.

@Buddy... I agree.... Meepz really went above and beyond when you think about it truly. He keeps the spammers, trojan horse links, phishers, and all around nuisance posts out of the system along with making sure that the same post didn't end up taking an entire page of listings. More often he made sure that mods to a specific area were really on top of their game. Things happen and it happens to all of us but when a good system like BOLT is there, someone is always going to try and destroy it as we now see. I suspect this is an attack by one individual who got banned for populating BOLT with lots of pay per click and phishing links. I know I saw this user pop up under a few different names and very shortly after that user was booted, BOLT went down.

To address the issue of pay sites for use. There are a few I have come across in the last few days that demand payment of $5 Euro for sections of their system and they are not even 50% of what BOLT is. That the Admins of BOLT did everything on a voluntary basis was great and of course if you are a support and get an Elder rating, that just makes sense.

@kaybar I saw the status of lots of members changed to banned and it worried me at first - and then I realised clamping down quickly was the only way to keep good control of such a large site. I never noticed any favouritism going on either and the mods were top notch, all singing from the same hymn sheet too. I'm not saying everything was perfect because there will always be some troublemakers ( and weird people!). I also think something malicious has gone on. Hope this doesn't sound like a lovefest.

Not sure I would pay a subscription for any site, but I don't mind chipping in now and again to help keep a site I value up and running. You can always say no if you can't afford it too.

i was regular poster there
