I believe we did right and acted correctly with the DMCA laws, compared to him, he did many things wrong, ignored DMCA, limited the takedowns requests to annoy rightholders, annouched next big things, we not do such a thing.

Backups is possible only if we have multiple CDN locations.

I totally understand your need to close the rewards program. But the main problem lies here "RESTRICTING THE USERS FOR 60-120 MINUTES OF VIEWING"

-We all deal here with Movies, Anime, Adult (Takes longer than two hours to watch) Videos. Also, that content does not belongs to us.
Therefore, It will simply instigate the users to leave the platform(Our websites) & They will soon find new alternatives which will subconsciously form a habit of ignoring RapidVideo Altogether.
Restricting users will be a media suicide.

I am fine with ending the rewards program if you guys are not able to sustain yourself.
Also if you really wish to apply PPS program, you can always remove all the ads for that user (Visitor) if he signs up with you.

As for KODI, you can certainly block it on;
- Server level,
- DNS Level (Playercdn.net)
you can inject a dummy trojan which will alert KODI & turn off the users etc.

Before taking any action, Don't think about the webmasters but please do think about the users(vistors), As this industry totally depends on them.

I agree with you, akamai. I also understand that misuse of your service is a problem and something needs to be done about it.

Have been in the business for ages and I really doubt that lots of users will buy a prem acc just to watch videos ad-free. Your twitter poll is only talking about the possibility for viewers to buy an ad-free account which I support as well. Probably there won't be many sales, meaning no earnings for you neither the uploaders. Without some kind of stable and predictable reward system uploads will go down rapidly, content will then be watched from alternative hosters. We've seen some big players kick themselves from 100 to zero in a few weeks.

Honestly, I understand the situation and it's good that you want to try new stuff to improve the service but in my eyes your actions are always kind of half-hearted and premature efforts which might make everything worse. From one day to the other you change the whole system and this is not the first time. Uploaders and viewers like stability and continuity which is unfortunately not the case with rapidvideo. We will see what will happen but I fear that your changes won't do any good.
 
Honestely, i do not understand why everyone is able to buy an 1500€ iPhone or 4000€ iMac from Apple, but not 4.50€ premium accounts to support the service. As stated in our previous posts, we can't finance the servers from internet popup ads anymore, they remains overloaded and it is even on shared network of ISP.
 
Ok Rapidvideo, I understand it is difficult and problematic. Please don't get me wrong - it is no criticism in general, just my opinion. Most people don't want to pay when they can still get their stuff somewhere else for free without much effort. I don't need a premium account for watching a video a day or week either.
In my opinion you should have done something regarding the adblocking, hotlinking and blocking KODI and other scripts which steal bandwith and harm the system. At the same time offer prem accounts for those who do not accept advertising but still want to use your service.

I wish you good luck with your changes. Maybe it works. Would be sad to see RV go because it didn't work out and uploaders and viewers don't accept it.
 
Singapore servers cost $1000 per month with 1 gbit unmetered, it cant financed by ads. We need it too, otherwhise the network in some region sucks ;)

We are currently adding a lot of resellers, we already have got 3 resellers to working with it and we can offer PayPal as payment under certain rules. ;)
 
so basically you base the future of your service on aprox. 50 votes in the survey, and without significant predominance of 'yes' votes, not even informing voters that results will affect the reward program? it's quite risky, but well that's your choice.
I wonder how long will it take you to re-open the reward program this time.

and congrats to users who don't reach the current min. 50$ to payout, easy money for rapidvideo lol.

You guys have to understand the whole thing with articles 13, 17 and 11 all changed again. Adblock numbers have increased rapidly because even the stupidest users use Adblockers today. Advertising companies have pushed the CPM so hard that PPD is no longer profitable today. Only PPS is profitable.

Not only that, the advertising companies are forced today by some governments that they require personal data. There has never been such pressure before. Here for example you can read more: https://tunny.to/when-advertising-networks/

At the moment there are 3 factors that put extreme strain on filehosters. Uploaded is also massively under pressure and will no longer be able to withstand this. Even a secure place like Switzerland is no longer as secure as it used to be.

What filehosters are putting under extreme pressure at the moment:
  • Articles 13, 17, 11 put the file hosters under extreme pressure. This new law has caused extreme upheaval in some countries. Countries like Switzerland are also affected. There, for example, is Uploaded.
  • Adblockers have increased dramatically and the CPM are no longer profitable for filehosters. Bandwidth is still too expensive in Europe even if server prices have become cheaper over the last 10 years. Only PPS is profitable and no longer PPD.
  • Advertising companies like PropellerAds, PopAds that were once safe started using KYC. (Know Your Customer). Now it is mandatory to collect data and personal data from website operators because certain governments require it due to the high pressure. And no filehoster wants to give away data even if the site is on a legal level. Megaupload was also legal and Kim Schmitz was still fucked in the ass.
Many uploaders here complain that not enough is paid out. But this is just the beginning of the whole thing, everything will get much worse but some just don't realize it. By all these new laws everything becomes more complicated even if it should become a process of many years, some will happen the next years. It is a vicious circle which will also arrive in the file sharing industry. From geoblocking to Internet throttling and censorship. It is only a question of time what will happen with PPD in the future. It is simply no longer profitable for a webmaster today.
 
We closed PPD like we announced before, thank you for hard work, the decision was not easy.
