Fileserve Auto-Renewal: How do I stop it?

here is the solution.

if you are using paypal, go to your paypal > setting > pre defined payment & Remove from there

if you are using CC, send them first 4 & last 4 numbers, they will remove for ya

Do like if you follow

Apparantly your bank cannot stop payments. You need to contact Fileserve directly. This makes me very nervous as most people are lucky to get any sort of reply from them.

Update - found another email addy support@fileserve.com so sent email to them. still no reply from the CONTACT US link on fileserve page and also no reply from my email to customercare@fileserve.com Still waiting for guidance from RickyFS and hopefully his help will get this sorted.

can you check with your bank to add fileserve in your rejected payee list ?
if fileserve is using something like ECS (electronic Clearance system) ask the bank to stop the ECS process ?

Thanks

Thanks augustusrome I will give that a try and report how I get on. I suppose I could report my Debit card lost and request a new one. The most annoying thing about all of this is that unless Fileserve sort this out for me, I will spend the next few weeks/months hitting every forum I can find to warn ppl about this scam. I have paid for a service and now wish to end it. It certainly looks like a scam to me and all the research I have done just confirms this. Maybe Im wrong - we will see. Still no reply from anyone I have contacted

i got response from other people that few file hosts are doing this auto-renewal. the sad part is the user himself not notified reg auto-renewal. there is a tiny option they provide in the screen and most of them are not noticed. next month or next cycle they have been charged without their knowledge. the alternate option is buying from reseller. Resellers cant do auto-renewal.

Im not complaining about the auto renewal (even though i didnt see it myself when registering) because it does actually state that when you register, so ppl cannot fault Fileserve for that. It just seems very suspicious that it is so difficult to stop payments. Well, you live and learn I suppose. A few months ago a friend asked me should he register with Fileserve or Filesonic. I need to pay him a visit I think coz from what I have read, they are both as bad as each other.
BTW just found Fileserve forum:
http://forum.fileserve.com/ No help there either so far.

These kind of problems should not happen as its one's money and auto renewal without stopping option is same as stealing. Contacting bank directly may help in this matter. If they too can't help then you withdraw everything from that account and close that debit card linked account. I know this is weird but letting them steal like this should not be allowed.

You are correct dkp it is theft. Seems crazy that fileserve will get lots of bad press regarding this matter but they dont seem to care. Yes I will be going to my bank and if they will not stop these thieving scumbags taking my money then i will close my account with them and get new bank account somewhere else.

Yes that's what you should do.

Next time when you pay to such sites always consider paying through paypal as they can help in settling such matters easily.

*Update*

So I finally got a PM from RickyFS who informed me he can sort this out for me. Have passed my acc details to him to cancel my premium account. Will post results here when i know more.

Also I registered @ fileserve forums (http://forum.fileserve.com) for guidance
eventually a Mod replied to my post and asked me to post my e-mail addy in the forum for him to chase up =) coz yeah, getting spammed will put me in a good mood.

Still no direct contact from Fileserve X-(

New Update

OK then heres where we are up to. I initially attempted to cancel my membership by filling out the ticket here: http://www.fileserve.com/contact-us.php
and of course had no reply. I have sent several e-mails to fileserve through the 2 addys i have:
support@fileserve.com
customercare@fileserve.com
again, no reply. I have spoken to RickyFS who claims he has cancelled my agreement (thanks RickyFS) and also registered @ filserve forums where eventually a mod wanted me to post my e-mail addy in the forum! Yeah right!
I have now received 2 emails from Fileserve. (I used 2 different email addys to double my chances of getting a reply).
1st:
We are sorry for the long wait. Further charges on your Credit Card has already been cancelled from our side.
Please be noted that if there are charges prior to this date of our confirmation, it will be/has been added accordingly into your fileserve account.

2nd:
If you have paid via Paypal, you may cancel further recurring payments directly into your account under Pre Approved payments.
If you have paid via Credit Card, please provide the email you have input upon purchase together with the Cardholder’s name and we will cancel it immediately

I have replied to this 2nd msg but as of yet no confirmation of my account status.

Now, you would have thought that would be the end of the matter but after doing some further research it appears that other ppl have eventually cancelled premium accounts but are still having payments taken from their bank accounts. Now I know that because I used debit card, I can simply destroy it and ask for another card from my bank but, I am that confident that this is all a scam that I am not going to do anything further just yet. If this is all a scam then Fileserve will take a further payment from my bank account in around 3 weeks time. I think it is worth them stealing a further payment from me just as proof that it is simply a rip off.

Hey chenlisi where did you send the 2 emails to? My previous post lists 2 email addys and also try this link and select credit card cancellation
http://www.fileserve.com/contact-us.php

Here is a post from Fileserve forums. Some dude gave me an email addy for Egate pay???

Quote from abbassoilmilan
"I too used to have a fileserve account and couldn't cancel it someone on here posted it so I sent an email to egatepay and they replied after a day which was better than fileserves "support" all traces of these posts however were deleted by the moderator as fileserve doesn't want people to cancel I also went to Wjunction and had encounters with RickyFS who is just an internet criminal this whole site is a major scam i'd suggest you move onto a more professional filehosting service like I have once you get rid of this nightmare"

Worst case you will have to cancel your cc and get new one
Good luck

The only solution for this issue!

Hello, I have no idea if this is the right place or if anyone can help me regarding this.
I purchased Fileserve Premium for 30 days in May not knowing I was also signed up for auto-renewal. I was recently charged a couple days ago for the next month. I've looked all over the place from my account/profile/settings and I can not find anything about stopping it. I've sent them several emails. In fact, i've sent them several emails about two different subjects and they have not emailed me back once. All I want to do is stop the auto-renewal. I found this site from google and someone mentioned to check this place out for answers. I paid FS directly, no paypal.

Can anyone out there help me?

Hello everyone who has faced the same issue.
Fileserve is quite stubborn in cancelling your subscriptions. But not to worry. There is a way. Fileserve uses a Visa Gateway named 'eGate Payment' which is a merchant company based in Mauritius.

All you need to do is,
Send an e-mail to the eGate Payments from the same e-mail address that you have registered your Fileserve Account. Also include the last four digits of your credit card in the mail so that they could verify your request. And Also make understand them the seriousness with your issue.

In my case, they didn't reply me at first. So I had to re-send email. Luckily they replied me after 24hrs saying that:

Code:
Dear Fileserve Client,

It has come to our attention that you were looking to cancel your FileServe membership. Although the company eGate Payment Technologies Ltd is not associated with FileServe, we do provide our secure payment technology to this merchant by hosting their payment page.
As we strive to provide the best service possible to everyone who contacts us, we have taken the proactive approach per your request to ensure that no further billings from FileServe may occur on the card/email you provided.

Please note that we will inform FileServe accordingly of your request and our subsequent actions.
Finally do not forget to "Like" our facebook page: facebook.com/eGatePay
Thank you & Kind Regards,

Customer Support
eGatePay

Their e-mail address is:
Code:
support@egatepay.com

Hope this will help everyone who has faced this issue. And yeah Fileserve is fraud in this case.

Enjoy!

Even i have pm'ed RickyFS about this, hoping to get a solution to this.

EDIT : Got a PM from RickyFS that he cancelled my subscription, a big thanks to him. Whew.

You shouldn't have to go through all of this just to cancel your account and besides, this action doesn't always stop the payments going out of your bank account. If you search google theres plenty of posts stating Fileserve continued to take payments even though they had closed accounts. You have got no chance of getting this money back as they just don't reply to your e-mails. A very very dodgy company.
