He's logged in 3 times today but given no responses to this thread. (I'm in Asia, that's why it says Yesterday...just an hour ago). Our VPS is still gone.

The Owner has not even talked to his employee so how are you guys expect to hear from him, I've already lost more than $100 because of 24 hrs downtime. Don't know how long it will take to fix, I am losing money every minute.

They should really give some concession on this month's invoice.

Do you guys actually think he would reply till he has everything in control? Give him some time, spamming here won't do anything. For the 5* example, dude seriously, katz won't be demote you just because of 24-48 hr downtime.

Calm down guys.

My friends NL VPS (where I host my sites) is also down. I am sure servedome technicians are working on bringing servers back online.

Regards,
NewEraCracker.

Of course people expect the owner to reply - especially if you promote your company with the promises of 99.9% uptime and 24/7 customer support. Their one customer service rep is also in the dark, and seems about ready to (understandably) jump ship himself...

The owner should issue a statement as to the current condition of the servers, the expected time for things to be back up and running, and if there has been any data loss. Anything less is irresponsible and unfair to his paying clients.

I can't believe some of you defend this. It is not an issue so much of the downtime but the way that they are dealing with it.

Well, the owner is on the thread again RIGHT NOW. Perhaps he will take this opportunity to say something substantive...

Wow, what a surprise, still no response after he was clearly reading the thread moments ago.

Very confidence inspiring...I hope that he is planning on offering compensation to all of his clients that were impacted by this - as per his many website promises, of course.

Please tell everyone here if you earn $100 everyday why you've chosen to host with a VPS provider instead of hosting buying 10 servers worth $100 each and putting online a redundant setup so you never go down? Surely for someone who earns $100 a day, spending $1k a month isn't a problem?

@lifetalk

That is true - there is much that we could do, including myself, to limit the impact of such things hurting our business, especially if your sites are earning significant money.

However, that doesn't exonerate servedome at all, nor does it excuse the glaring failures to address the concerns of their many clients - both in the forum and through their ticketing system. A mass statement would be so easy to issue.

The least the owner could do is tell us what's the problem and how longer he expects it to be down for. This is getting out of hand. It's like he's ignoring us while he's read the thread 3-4 times.

Cammy & others,

How do you know he know's what the problem is? He is most likely trying to work that out himself & will update you when he is done.

They're not magicians, remember that ;)

I couldn't agree with it more. And I do blame the host for not issuing an official statement about this. Communication goes a long way. Too bad he has failed to realize that.

I've lost $40 as advertising revenue rest 60$ I was about to get for a couple of link backs who revert payments after seeing the website offline (Don't know if they will pay or not later)

Even with $40 a day earning from my website I can afford other expensive vps but I didn't because I like servedome's service until yesterday. You will not get the quality of service they provide from other web hosts.

The thing that is irritating me more than the downtime if that they are not giving any information about the status of problem.

Then ask yourself the most basic question - do you really want to stay with a provider who, 24 hours since the issues started to occur, has not posted anything about it. Has not updated anyone on anything. And while he has read this thread several times, he hasn't even bothered to post a 'working on it, please wait' message.

People argue that the owner is busy getting the issue resolved or has no idea on what the issue is, which is why he hasn't posted anything. But if he were to simply post that exact same thing what people are speculating, it'd at least give everyone a little confidence that something is being done or even if nothing is being done at all, the owner is at least aware of the issue and trying to get something done.

Since nobody from ServeDome doesn't want to update this, I will tell you what I was told by someone who allegedly knows what's going on.
1) All servers have been wiped.
2) They never had RAID-10 so no backups.
3) The owner is running away.

Unfortunately, it's 99% true. If you have a backup I suggest you moving as you are just loosing your time by waiting for him to reply.

To other web hosting companies owners. There is another company that got hacked in the same time as ServeDome.
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1016017

They both use SolusVM. There is possibly an 0day exploit for SolusVM. If you use SolusVM consider protecting your /admincp with an additional directory password and lock it down only to your IP / IP range.

I know it's not what you wanted to hear but it's better than keeping you in the dark.
