hello

im looking to add a forum to WHMCS
one that uses my WHMCS database of users for login info

there are 3 such forums listed in the WHMCS addons list
but one is a dead URL and the other 2 are providing no support

this is WAY beyond my abilities hehehe

yea guess not
my mind is still kinda pissed that there are 3 plugins for this vary job and not one is being updated for the new WHMCS
2 of them leave there sites able to take our money though

WHMCS is on a rapid release cycle now days, That could be why there broke things are always changing with WHMcs now

To stop the breaking, the bridge would have to make no changes to whmcs except a field for a username and the forum should pull the username/password everything else from the WHMCS, that would minimize the impact on updates when they are released. Something like this for vBulletin should not cost you more than around $50 - $70 depending who is coding it for you, most standard coders can do this with ease.

Whmcs has a community mod for ipb 3.1.x... but it will only work for new client registrations. Old clients have to be added manually.
All you do is add a new field during registration and it will create the user and sync it to ipb database useing the new login method add to the login system in the admin cp.

1. You just require client's user/pass to be used in your forum? No other kind of integration?
2. Which forum type you want to use?
3. You require both of them to be connected always, like when user resets its pass in whmcs, it should also change it in the forum and vice-versa?

just the ID and pass for now
a few other things would be nice to but I suspect it would be a huge amount of work hehehe

I don't much care what type of forum it is

O and yes the ID and pass would always need to be connected
hmmm and email to I guess

@amartin99, I think soft2050 want to know that which forum script you want to use?
Is that vBulletin, IPBoard or else?
And mention the version of the forum.

im not qualified to pick
what ever your most comfortable setting up is fine with me
im not trying to build a massive community
just trying to give my clients a way to talk to each-other

You could take a look at whmcsbb.com for a fully integrated forum system (albeit rather basic software).

Unsure if this is compatible with the latest WHMCS version though but take a look.

Export the user list and password hashes from the data base, inject data into forum data base :l
WHMCS encrypts the password in this format: md5(salt.password).
vB does this way: md5(md5(password) . salt) and IPB: md5( md5(salt) . md5(password) )

Unless you are lucky enough to find a forum script that uses same hashing technique, it won't be that simple.
