Not a single reply after Loget asked who would be willing to "really" contribute, I guess it's best if the blog was not created. Better to NOT have a dead blog than a dead blog.

The idea of contributing back to the community by writing tutorials does indeed seem very interesting. For those of you who are vexed and pondering about the contributors, I feel that initially, the Respected Group should play their part well in it. We're given the title since the board leaders have acknowledged our talents and personally I wouldn't ever back out if given the opportunity to pay back (unless its a do or die case with my work in my personal life).

However, to arouse further interest, I guess we can have some paybacks in terms of rewards to the writers - say hosting for a month, vouchers or something of that sort which makes them to put a step forward and not shy away.

Regards,
Gaurav

I would say that WJ is a very close and friendly community with many reliable members. This is just for fun, and it is only to share their knowledge and share their own articles. It can be anything. Who cares who gets the traffic? This is a scenario in which we share information among 'friends'.

It is of course voluntary if you want to share something with members and friends or not. There is absolutely no compulsion, and as I said, it would only be for fun ..

Another idea that might be useful is to have a 'section' which for example makes feedback (reviews) on various programs, tips and the like.

I am very willing, but as I previously mentioned I do not know if I have sufficient resources to be able to share good articles, guides, tips and tricks in general.

WJ can't even do a decent Twitter account which is only 140 characters. How's it meant to do full custom written articles?

Forget the blog until the Twitter is fixed. If you can't even run a decent twitter account then you've no hope of a blog.

The whole Twitter is a disaster. I do not know who is responsible for the user, but I ask to be responsible now if he reads this post ..

I would be willing to contribute my time to write some tutorials, tips, articles, etc on some sort of official WJunction "blog".

I would however want a team behind me to help out, especially with the theme so as to ensure it looks somewhat similar to the forum.

Ultimately the blog would provide something of value to every WJunction member. A place which you can visit to read about SEO, Marketing, Programming, Design, etc. I'm also thinking a special "Resources" page containing common webmaster tools would be useful.

You would also be notified somehow through the forum whenever there is a new blog post so you are constantly kept up-to-date.

Out of curiosity, who would be willing to really contribute content to such a blog if it were created?

I could help with SEO or Marketing.

What did you expected? You put 2 comments that kill the will of contribution, with prejudice and then, it looks weird to you no one responded?
Loget asking for contributors, is like going on fishing, asking fishes: which one is willing to get on my hook. Contribution doesn't work that way. You stimulate people, to contribute, you give them reason to do that. You don't squeeze the shit out of them, asking for something, and not giving anything in return. As long as there is mutual benefit of linking back and forth, there will be contributors. And it's the only real benefit for both, not some 'respected' rank.
Even if there isn't, you don't ask for them. You just allow everyone to give their share. And, from 30K members, there will be diamonds.

Most of you are talking about contributing but when the time comes, will you actually contribute? I remember when certain members stated they'd help with the magazine with Mindy but started to make excuses. If you say you can contribute, then contribute if you can't then don't say you will.

We all have bad days, we are all busy, that is where you failed to understand a 'contribution'. It's free, and it's volunteer basis. I can give up whenever I want, without need to pardon myself to anyone. I give it on my free will basis, without pushing, demands, time schedule. Just like you are mod here, you are not paid to do it, you can quit whenever you want, it's not an obligation to you. Even if you are being convinced in that, with the set of rules you have in front of yourself. You are free to leave any time, and whatever you decide, rest of us can only say: Thank you for your contribution and free time. (I am not saying you should leave, don't get me wrong here, lol)

That is why I've suggested to transfer complete NEWS/TUTORIALS section to blog, where everyone can contribute, like they are already doing, not just a few 'picked', with new group name. Separating people in groups is always a bad idea. That is how you are losing rest of contributors. So, I am right here, against new 'publisher' group, or 'editor' group. We have admins on this site, it's their job to be editors, so if they want shit running better for them, they should recognize their opportunity to raise this site on a new level, and move their asses doing something themselves. :)
If not, then, well, fuck it.

So, how I see this model is like this:

1. Everyone is liable to submit article, which is then held for a moderation.
2. Article submitter can link back to his own site from the article, and get something in return. This model works for article directories, why it wouldn't work here?
2A. Article submitter COULD put any link/banner that points back to wjunction or wjunction blog, or the article itself, so both WJ and contributor can pull the best out of this situation, regarding SEO.
3. It's based on free will and time, without any special ranks, so this can grow. Once you put a 'publisher' rank, or any other imaginary rank, you've killed it.
4. Editors / article moderators will be staff members (administrators themselves), because, no one should be running this site and have that obligation, except administrators. It's their site, their responsibility, and if they want people contributing, administration should take over some hard working on themselves. (like, reading articles, hitting publish button)

Stop talking about blog that was like few years back, when this forum had 10X less members, and 10X less popularity, and was all about warez. It's just ridiculous.

You want to gtfo of warez? This is the chance.

The only 2 posts that made sense in this whole topic is from "jayfella" and my nigga "BlaZe"

Why would anyone write for free? :|

If contributing is the problem, then some writers could be hired, write initial posts/topics , once the pace picks up , respected members and Mods can give a hand.

I second foxman's idea.

The people in the respected group should atleast submit 1 article per week (c'mon its not hard to remove just 1 hour of time from your schedule). Other than that, the people who are willing to volunteer (must have a good knowledge & popularity over here) would be allowed to post articles, or maybe post the article and put it under moderation.
If its up to the level, it will be published :)

Hows that ?

Also the Costs can be bared by wjunction admin/mods [if they have money :)]
Later, ads and stuff can be added in future, think about the long term effects of the blog.

Your about a week respected and now your telling people they should post one article a week to remain respected?

That's the stupidest idea ever. Do you have any idea how much some of us charge or earn per hour and to give that for free? Forcing people to do ANYTHING is never a good idea. Encourage respected members or give them access to post on the blog if they wish but NEVER EVER set a minimum requirement even to an editorial team. For a post or article to be successful it has to flow not be pushed or be forced.

It's a bit like all these shitty warez forums which had thousands of terrible quality duplicate posts. When will people learn it's quality not quantity.

Their's a successful Blog called BlueHatSEO that's popular and get's a lot of traffic. It's just one guy who probably only posts one article every 6 months. It's fantastic and has excellent quality content, nothing is rushed or forced. With 26 respected members if they only posted one post every 6 months that's still one excellent blog post a week. Have a few editors that post once a week and you've one well written blog post per day which is more than enough if the quality is high.

One a week for respected.... are you mad? I know that comment made me mad.

Adverts added in the future? Do you not think we have enough all ready? You want to encourage visitors not drive them away. Nobody's going to read an addvert infested site.

I don't think blaze meant to force respected members to contribute, Respected members by default earn authority to post articles, regular and known members can join team like occul etc

We members are not machines that you will code us to produce X number of articles per day.

Make a blog, get a good theme, something with the forum and it should work out. People who are real internet users love to read good quality writings, not keyword stuffed material and neither do they like writing pieces which were made in a jiffy.

WJunction has had it's bad times and it's good times and I believe the blog will be some thing that will be bringing in good for WJ, and specially bringing in people who are knowledgeable, because:

People who love to read and roam around to read = People who know more than the average man

@Mr Happy, I guess you misinterpreted what I said -_-

Meaning of my post:

I was talking about the blog not wj main forum, besides you can see how DP has implemented ads system on the forum without giving the slightest notion of being an advert infested forum!

But I have to mention that the quality of DP forums is decreasing, Here is the Chance for WJ :sun:
