In most warez forums all links have to be in code tags and live links are prohibited.

Is there any reason for that or they do it for appearance?

Can anyone help me here? Thanks =)

i understand that and thanks for ur help!

i found this answer on a site:

Download links on forums are placed in
Code:
tags because it makes the live links only text not a link to something illegal, which protects the forum under current laws.

is this true?

Active links (clickable links) leave a referral of the forum. Thus, leaving a linkback to the 'warez' forum. You'll have a better chance of Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc. deleting/blocking your upload if they're not coded. Coding your links might help keep them up longer. It also makes your post look prettier. :P

What exel said is the main reason why we ask people to code links.
Live links leave a referral. Links die faster and you get lots of takedown notices because the big shots know that your forum distributes shit.

It used to be from back in the day, when Rapidshare and the like weren't around.
People used to have to upload onto hacked FTP's and such.

It blocked the referral so whoever owned the said FTP wouldn't know so easily.

Shit, I still remember when SourceForge was used as one of the first filehosts. People created fake projects, and uploaded files into certain directories. Then came along sites like Rapidshare.de.

Nowadays, it's used to prevent phishing, or simply for aesthetics.
