If you have a growing warez site and members do attached some uploads to it, and can't afford a dedicated server yet, and planning to get a host that can hold it for the mean time, will you go for the shared host on this link, Professional Plan:-
http://www.wrzhost.com/shared-hosting.php

Which provides 15GB HDD, and 250GB Bandwidth

Or semi dedicated here, SD-Small:-
http://www.wrzhost.com/semidedicated-hosting.php

Both are same price. Thanks in advance.

Typo?
SD large is by $5 more expensive but check out the storage..

Anyway.. semi dedicated would mean better download speeds, so i would go with that..

Yeah, I would have to think through that, but one things clear, semidedicated's better.

I would go for a Small Semi-Dedicated.

Thanks for your opinion, and yeah I agree too. =)

wow this thread helped me immensely

It did?! I'm glad it did! Always a pleasure to help people out! ^_^

Yes cause I was undecided whether to get a VPS or a semi-dedi since I see people recommending a semi it eases my mind in knowing going with a semi dedi is a viable choice.

VPS is always better than semi-dedicated. Semi-dedicated is like shared hosting.

On VPS you have your own freedom, install your own apps, get root access, your own OS, your own control panel and lots more that is not available on "semi-dedicated"

After all the best shared hosting I tested so far was the SERVEDOME.COM,I use a semidedi hosting with them and i not have problems.

PLease Mods Clear/Delete this Reply, wrong topic

bentink......semi-dedicated is recommended for the majority of webmasters here rather than a vps....

Simple reason is that, most of them are idiots and have no clue as to what they are doing. Without a control panel like cpanel, none of them would even have a site online.
Most can't even download photoshop to change the text on a psd file, others can't do basic html (make an affiliates box).....what does that say? The modern day webmaster is nothing more than someone who thinks they can get rich quick by opening a site but yet knows nothing about the inner runnings of a site.

Semi-dedicated = similar to shared, free cpanel......their ideal setup.
VPS = all resources to you, pay extra for everything, setup everything yourself......their worst nightmare

But I agree with you though, VPS is better.

lol, semi-dedicated = shared hosting :)

A VPS is actually more reliable. But if anyone is a noob, shared hosting is his choice.

Moreover you can get cPanel on a VPS easily. So even a noob can use a VPS with cPanel :D

well.. I agree with Bentink !

Why spending a fortune in a semidedicated hosting wich is the same as a shared hosting, when you can spend the same money in a vps, wich is faster, more flexible and you can have cPanel or any software you like to be installed.

WHen you buy a semi-dedicated hosting, you never know what youre getting. You can be in the same server as a shared hosting and you will never know. Its a blind buy, you spend the money in something you dont really know if its worth.

I dont want to advertise any company, but some like scopehosts and webthosting are offering managed vps solutions, with cPanel at affordable prices.

I tried Semidedicated hosting in the past and is the same bullshit as having a shared hosting.

I agree to a certain extent, VPSs are better however, if you are unsure of how to administrate your own server, don't know the basics, for example; update cpanel or restart via ssh, then Semi Dedicated is the best for you.

Hope this helps.

Well - It does depend on who you host with - for example there would be some hosts that oversell causing the performance to be same as shared - however wrzhost has very few people per semi dedicated server. Causing download speeds and general performance to be of higher quality than shared.

Exactly what nick said. Plus his semi-dedis start 15 bucks. which isn't an outrageous price. I bought his semi dedi and it is pretty fucking fast. Page loads instantly.
