If you guys know that those members get the "Respected Member" rank who contribute something towards the community by helping the members and through other ways.

My question is why would be there an inactive respected member who visited a long time ago. He/She is neither helping the community nor has any interest left over here, so why the rank is still given to him/her. Okay I believe he/she did something good and is respected, but previously we already had a demotion of "respected members" rank so why this thing is not followed frequently?

I am not against any particular "respected member" but I feel like there are many other members who deserve this rank. This kind of topic has already been debated a long time back.
So I wanted to know the opinion of other guys over here.


Once again please don't take me wrong, if any mod/admin feels this is sarcasm then they can close and delete this thread.

You said yourself that you were demoted for being inactive even though you were in hospital, people can be inactive for a huge range of reasons many of which they won't share with others because of how deeply personal they are. So you are saying that people should be demoted just because life has thrown them a curve ball and messed everything up? Sorry but no, a person should have respect until they do something stupid.

The biggest problem with this forum is that many people do not respect themselves or others and until you do so then how the hell do you expect others to respect you? (this is not aimed at anyone specifically just a generalisation).

Respected members/coders should stay at that rank until such a time arrives where they have done something that is not deserving of that rank.

Personal reasons are there but you gotta see others too, I don't know why you guys are taking it personally specially jayfella. I just asked for opinions and arguing with me.

The process in getting respected on WJ is one of the few things I believe that works well. What regular members don't know is their is a process in place outlining how people are promoted AND DEMOTED. You don't need to know this process except that it exists, is available and used.

That should answer all questions you need to know or entitled to know. You do not need to know personal circumstances for any member or individual.

so your saying I should get mine back? The old owners reset it once already, which is when they then sold the forum. :facepalm:
 
I like the new rank system so keep up the rank the way they are now. When I lost my respected rank 1 year ago I was bit sad at that time but still now wj members respecting me the way they have done when i was in rank. But I know I dd not deserve to be in that rank anyway lol( Some of the Wj members are to jealous on me.) Guys rank does not mean anything. If you have rank or not Wj members know who you are. So keep Wj in peace And enjoy.

Not once did I blame you for anything in any way nor am I taking things personally. I did read the first post carefully hence why I worded my reply the way I did.

Asking for peoples opinions here is generally the first step to starting an argument which is something else that baffles me but that's not the point here now is it :P

Where's the staff? There's a post that Hawk made about the respected member rank. Although I think it was wrong to mass denote the way they did, the rank should be able to be revoked. It's not a right, it's a privilege, and people who carry that rank should carry it well, should understand the meaning of it. Sure, it's just a rank with a different color user name, and maybe some don't care to be recognized by the community, and maybe you're right, it doesn't matter, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind it. I used to have the rank, but I got demoted, and if I ever get it back, then great, and if not, so be it. I do agree I don't see many promotions going on anymore, not sure exactly what staff are looking for now-and-days, but like anything else on this forum, it's up to the admins.

These ranks are mostly unusefull, only kids follow them and only kids take care of them.

If this is a webmaster community and you are a webmaster, being a webmaster is your rank and you decide what kind of webmaster you want to be without change the colour of your nickname.

well i lost my rank because of inactivity , i was expecting it but when i seen that many other people lost it too i was a bit surprised :)

well once again rank doesnt matter :facepalm:

See, but it all comes down to how you look at the rank.
You can't just state 'only kids follow them and only kids take care of them' because that's not a fact, it's your opinion. And yes, I respect it. And I agree, no matter what, you're a webmaster, or should be if you're on this forum. :| But even if it's just a rank icon with a color change, it's not a complete waste and useless, you get the rank because you've earned it, and that's what matters, your contribution, that's the way I see it.. as a 'Good job, keep it up, you're doing good.' I don't see what's wrong with being recognized for being a good member/webmaster.

Yeah, I don't believe they ever gave a full reason for it, other than cleaning it out? :|
They could have found a better way to do it, though.

And once again, that's your personal opinion.
It doesn't matter to a certain extent, it doesn't define who you are, or how trusted you are, at least not to me. It's simply a way to know you're being recognized for your contributions.
 
Everyone got their own attitude, few are shy, few are bold, few like to stand in the crowd. so all in all its up to you, to consider weather ranks do matter or not. They exist for a reason and i believe being respect is a privilege, after all your contributions and your handwork it feels good to get a rank. Once respected are respected no matter they are active or not every one got their private life too, to tc off
