Phenom Quad 955 3.2Ghz or Intel C2Q Q9550 2.83Ghz?

I am going to upgrade my server and I am not really sure which one to choose of these two:

Phenom Quad 955 3.2Ghz
8GB DDR3

or

Intel C2Q Q9550 2.83Ghz
8GB DDR2

Was firstly thinking of the Intel one but noticed the AMD has DDR3. Not sure if it matters that much really. I have mostly high CPU usage so need faster CPU and more memory than I have today.

Need some input :)

If the DDR3 ram is faster than the DDR2 then you should go with the Phenom I guess.
But performance-wise, you're better off with the Intel C2Q.

So it depends on the speed of the RAM, maybe the DDR3 is clocked at 800MHz, which means that it's marginally the same speed as the DDR2. Most likely it's faster though, so depends on personal preference.

Intel or AMD? I'd go with Intel btw, performance, stability, reliability.
 
I like intel better =)
I usually prefer intel of AMD, never had a AMD Server ( til now going to try it out =P )

They basically both are the same only dif is slight increase in clock, but not alot..
Really it's up to you, i would say intel over AMD, but completely up to you
 
The intel is clocked lower but it crunches numbers a hell of a lot better. The DDR3 is most likely 1066, which is very marginal over the DDR2800. The only time you start seeing huge differences in speed from ddr2 and 3 is when DDR 3 gets around 1600-2000.

Go for the intel.
 
seaporn , u dont need a server with that specs. if ur planning to run ur download / upload works also on the server, I suggest buy two separate servers. As Disk I/O plays an important role

Not true, DDR3 has no significant advantages over DDR2.
 
Intell, as far as i know the Intell is quicker then the Phenom.
The ddr shouldnt make a big diffrence, anyway both are good choices.
But i would go with the Intell,
 
I took the Intel one. So far I am more than happy. Huge difference from my old one. So much faster and load went down a lot :)
