From there, I decided to destroy their site and I proceeded to do so every time they uploaded their backup.

They just didn't want to fix their security issues.

Yeah, well the chances someone hacks your site and doesn't take something out of it are slim. There are hackers who do it for fun, but they are slowly dying so yeah. As for the question, I wouldn't be mad if it solely "for fun" and nothing is damaged nor touched and it would provide great depth of information on how to further prevent your site of getting attacked.

I do it all the time for clients, its what i do for a living atm :) Server security ftw, then again, im only a student. ;)
 
If it was a friend I wouldn't care. As far as some white hat hacker just coming along and hacking into it I would be a little pissed, but appreciative.

I wouldn't be pissed. I've done it once awhile back, and to be honest, they were grateful. So all I can say is, if there wasn't anything taken, then my reaction would be satisfied, but feel slightly noobified.

ROFL i know that everytime you hack a site you take the db.

anyway i dont like hacking for fun. basically i only hack a site if theyve pissed me off alot or if bread calls me a pussy if i dont <3
 
Defacing a website is bad in my opinion. If someone would hack my site I would be kinda pissed because the webmasters that believe the "I didn't take any of your files or database" are naive in my opinion.

I once had someone contact me few years ago that told me that my website used to be vulnerable, he asked $100 for the fix. I never paid the $100 and fixed it with the help of a mate of mine.

But then again when I was younger I hacked some phpBB forums and IPB via some public exploits and I didn't do any harm to the site. I only mailed the owner that their site was vulnerable.
 
I would be mad if the site got hacked for whatever reason lol but if none of the databases or anything are stolen it wouldn't be as bad but best thing is to keep backing up the site constantly in case it does happen :)
