So, as you can see we've modified the categories of the forum a little bit. This is to allow expansion later on without having everything grouped into a single category.

For the category "The Market", what do you think about having a section for coupons and vouchers?

I am not talking about gift cards or vouchers, I am talking about discount and offers coupons. For example, discount coupons used with Godaddy. Many people are registered as affiliates with registrars, hosts and so on, and have the ability to offer discounts, they earn from it and you save money from it.

Also, since we have file hosts representatives here, they can post vouchers and special offers in there for WJunction, though I am not sure if that is something they'd want, however, they'd have the choice if that section was created.

Since we're all webmasters, I think it would be good if we have a section for that, specially since we all buy domains and hosting, that way we'd have our own discount corner and special offers.

Hosting companies always have a special offer of some time going on. The problem I see with this is your going to get a lot of hosting threads with whatever current offer they are running. The place could get flooded with hosting and then you don't know if you should go to the hosting area or the cupon area. Hosting companies will end up with duplicate threads in different sections that are the same offer.

I'd be afraid if somebody did post something useful like a goDaddy code that get's you .com domains for $1 it would be hidden or thrown to the second page quickly.
You'd have to set out strict requirements or it will just be filled with spam. For it to work right it will need to be well regulated.
 
Hmm.. I think you should add milestones section. Almost everyday a thread comes up saying, Blablablabla.com got 3* on katz. Also disable the post count there?
 
i agree with Happy on his point with the amount of hosts here,would end up with lots of spam,i would say wht could avoid this happening would to either 1. If hosts want to post coupons available,to keep each new one in one thread only,not multiple threads for ea coupon... or 2. have a subforum for hosting coupons,and another for tld coupons.
 
Yea I also agree with happy. The idea is good but don't allow hosts. They have a section already and if someone is interested they will look in the proper section.

Yeap, that is why our good moderator team is here. The section will be monitored heavily, in fact we'll add criteria on what qualifies as "valid service".

For example: "All offers, vouchers and coupons must be of sites that have be been online for more than 18 months".

We'll also limit the type of vouchers...

Anyway, we're not new to this, restrictions will be applied, that goes without saying.
 
Well as for duplicates we can have only one thread per host/service provider. Prevent +1s and Thank You's in the topic and have some rules set like details of expiry and any conditions to avail the discount be written clearly. The users may reply/report in case the coupon which is not working (though hasn't expired). All the updates to be made on the main page so that the users shall not search through pages to find the latest deals :)
