New Focus of Cloud: The Intro
The majority of discussion has Cloud at the center - differentiating between service providers, trying to make sense of deployment models and offerings - with motivations such as reduced costs and increased availability. As Cloud becomes more familiar, the selection easier, and the benefits realized - we can transition focus and apply the advantages to businesses and people.
Here's an example.
A car is powered by the engine, wheels give it mobility, and the shell provides safety. All are expected to work and get you from point A to B. Similarly, Cloud is powered by resources such as compute. Availability and accessibility make up mobility, and safety equates to privacy and security.
The New Focus of Cloud says that Cloud is to the point where we can rely on the engine, wheels, and safety - while starting to focus on what Cloud can be used for.
To bring the example home: lets start to think about the driver and passengers within the car (while acknowledging that the car needs to run and get us around safely). After all, the driver is the one steering and the passengers experiencing the ride.
