Since the years I've been in the hosting field and learned a lot of commands, I've came to like one particular editor which would be pico and later basically renamed to nano.

The other editor is a 'pain in the ass' and I don't see why people like it.

It's called, vi.

I had to google for the proper commands and just to quit, If I remember it's like :q! or something whereas on nano ctrl+c or when saving it's ctrl+x and y.

If you like nano (pico) or vi, explain why.

vim ftw.

although the true 'editor war' is between vi(m) and emacs.
and they're just editors, not SSH editors since they work in linux & windows.

Yep, nano is awesome.

but nobody can explain to me why people use vi when it's such an inconvenience to use; when nano is so much simpler.

If you think it's an inconvenience, you just don't know how to use it, to put it bluntly.

I know almost every keyboard shortcut in vim by memory, there are still a couple I fail to remember after 4 years or so of using it.

An example benefit:
I can delete a couple of lines, type something else in, copy that, paste it into another file then replace occurences of a variable i copied from that file with another variable in my code... all without ever touching my mouse or changing window, in a few keystrokes.

nano is for people who can't vim.
