Rapidshare now give unlimited Traffic?

Can somebody clean these mess? It's an ongoing debate now. :))

Rapidshare will always be the Big Daddy of filehosting business. Nothing more! It will live longer since they do have other marketing strategies other than the warez scene. The "warez world" might not want rapidshare on its footsteps but who cares? It still have its ace on its hand.

Ah fuck it, this thread has turned into a pointless debate.

As for me, I am a downloader first and then an uploader as I download so much as to need a new 1TB external HDD every 5-6 months. And from a downloader's point of view, I would never ever use RapidShare. They have increased wait time between files for free users to 1 hour which makes it impossible for free users like me to download any large files with many parts. Download speeds for free users is horrible. A company which doesn't care about its free users even the tiniest bit cannot be called a "good" file hosting company under any circumstances.

Up until now, RS always had stupidly low bandwidth caps and now that they are providing unlimited for a short time, they have suddenly turned into Godfathers. Geez. I like many others believe warez should be free to download and if that is the case, there's no way I should be paying for a premium account at RS which defeats the purpose of warez. The only reason I use premium accounts at other hosts is because I can "earn" them without having to shell out money from my own pockets. If that wasnt possible, I would probably download from torrents.

And whoever said RS doesn't depend on warez uploaders is clearly delusional. Its a file sharing company, not a cloud hosting comapny that many corporations and individuals use to store legitimate files as backup. Rapidshare deletes all files after a certain period even for premium users. So it definitely isn't useful to store any important files. What else is left then? Sharing holiday videos and sex tapes? RS has still survived for so long because of warez uploaders who still kept uploading there mainly because of Katz/other DDLs. Mind you, nobody buys premium accounts to download once in a while. Only frequent downloaders buy premium and what else can you download frequently except copyright files?

The fact of the matter is RS used to be the best once upon a time but since then competitors have come and have been able to provide better service for both free and premium users. But unfortunately, because they have an affiliate program, they have been turned into villains, while completely ignoring their quality of service which is in no way inferior to what RS provides.

only cash-hungry like you guys don't

cause you just want to leech-upload and earn money

open your eyes guys still 9 of 10 "actual downloaders" who really want to download not just leech and upload look for Rapidshare links

thats why even after they stopped rewarding katz keep RS mandatory for high rank sites

What's more interesting - other "evil hosters that pay for warez" have it too - with each hotfile premium you got 100GB of traffic that you could use to hotlink your files, and if you ran out of traffic you could purchase additional GBs ( if you needed very large ammounts you could contact sales for bulk discounts ).

Yeah, you got a point there. If I were a large corporation looking for a long term commitment with a filesharing site to use their infrastructure to deliver my files, I'd most definitely choose Hotfile over Rapidshare. After all, I'm not concerned about the fact that Hotfile will go down because of lawsuits/copyright issues, and the fact that their infrastructure is not even half as good as Rapidshare's.

Yes, every 'evil filehost that pays money for file downloads' has a feature similar to Rapidshare (hotlinking), but does every 'evil filehost that pays money for file downloads' have the same infrastructure? Has every other filehost survived as long? Has every other filehost had that many lawsuits to fight, and won a majority? Has every other filehost been as professional? Do you think every other filehost will last for as long as Rapidshare has/will?

The proof, is right before you. Hotfile took birth while Rapidshare was at large. Rapidshare still is at large, in sorts, and Hotfile goes down. If you think Fileserve/Filesonic are not going to follow the same path, you are delusional or wishful - whatever you fancy.

If I were a corporation, like any other, I'd choose Rapidshare for my file delivery over any other filehost, anytime and every time.
 
Rapidshare? I was worked for 3 years with them (2005 - 2008). earn about 125.000 Points but i never use it yet. They are the most few year ago, but now, they are nothing.
 
In Italy on the 2 most important/popular forums there are only 10-20 releases with RS links, more then 50.000 with MU links & more then 18.000 (growing very fast fast) Fileserve.
All Italians use MU & MV because it's fast, jDownloader downloads without a manual code insert for free users and 90% of italians have dynamic IP, so we can see movies more then 72minutes by just restarting the router xDDD

I still can't find 1 (just 1) advantage of using RS and not using MU or Fileserve.
 
One year ago i use rapidshare for downloading.That month i download 400 GB+ files.Then i like rapidshare,but now i use filesonic for download and everything i need have on FSC links.And it is cheaper for me to use filesonic than rs with 5 gb limit day.:(But rs is still one of the best hosts.:)

Obviously what I meant was way off from what you assumed. But then it is my fault for not clearing it up. I meant it with regards to Mozilla dumping their infrastructure and using Rapidshare's infrastructure to deliver the official releases. Rapidshare has the capacity (and more) to easily handle Mozilla's software delivery. And the money Mozilla spends on their infrastructure, they could pay Rapidshare (possibly saving costs in the process) in return for Rapidshare offering Mozilla's files without wait time/restrictions. Rapidshare gets business, Mozilla gets the advantage of an already established and time proven infrastructure that is both high quality and conforms to integrity.

rapidshare is definitely trying to change their target users and income from uploaders/downloaders to corporations for providing them the infrastructure. but it will take some time and in the mean time rapidshare is loosing money, so they bring this unlimited downloads to attract more premium users. they WILL stop it once they get big corporations to pay for them 8-)
 
Once they get big corporations to pay them? They've already announced when they will be stopping it, lol. They're running it for the month of April, and that is it. Losing money means nothing to them, they've earned enough in the past couple years so I'd say even if they ran at a loss for the entire 2011, they'd still be going strong.

To everyone else who have been saying that they're offering this promotion because they are running under their capacity (which has resulted due to low number of premium users/subscribers), have you considered the fact that they might in fact have expanded their capacity? And that this is just the initial stages where they have spare before they begin to utilize it, and so they figured they'd put it to good use. I don't suppose any of you considered that. Why would you? That'd leave no room to bash Rapidshare, after all :)

maybe you did not consider that out of two possible reason
(yours and the other one - about many people did not renew their premium membershipp....)

the second one is far more likely to be the true one
and if we speculate here what really is going on
because none of us knows for sure and if you asked me that I must choose the one possibility out of two suggested - I would surely not go with your
option - so reconsider your possition on this mater if you want ;)

btw I am not for or against rapidshare - I always like to have as much options
as possible - variaty is always good
 
I didn't ask you to speculate, or for that matter, choose an option. Your opinion may be different from mine - that clearly does not mean I have to reconsider my position. I'm not pulling stuff outta my arse. I'm talking based on what I've seen/noticed.

And guess what - I've seen Rapidshare expanding into newer areas, more cooperation and joint ventures with actual companies, magazines, sponsoring partners, and all that. To me it clearly seems they're growing, larger now than ever.

what you said is a possibility, but its more probable that they lost most of their users that they can now actually provide unlimited downloading. am almost sure that percentage of new premium signups have decreased significantly since the last year that they wont try to expand their capacity in such a situation.

loosing money means nothing to them. i dont agree. any company would be worried if their profits are decreasing, if it they are not in loss. it would cause them to do something innovative to attract more customers, like the anti waiting lounge! thats why we see lots of changes in RS after they stopped paying uploaders cause they want to do bring something new so that they can keep their customers 8-)
