As the thread title says, theres going to be a website dedicated to elite coders, programmers, developers, etc. who are willing to help each other and gain more knowledge from each others.

The community/network will be a private community and will require you to pass some levels inorder to reach the registration page.

Only after clearing the levels, you can register and have a peek in the network.

It will not have any newbies or noobs. A community just for some serious and casual discussions regarding constructive programming, coding, development, etc.

So now what we want you to do is provide us some traits which will keep you (the member) to revisit the site again & again. Let it be any crazy thing, we want it from you !

It shouldn't become inactive at all. Seen some good websites go no where for being inactive. So who ever is gonna join it must keep it active :D

That would actually be lovely and I am looking forward to such thing :)

For me just good help and active members would be enough for me to keep visiting
:) Thanks. Even we are hoping for the same.

We will try to keep the site active by some small competitions, vital information, etc. but if activity would be the main trait of attraction, then we need help from members too.

From the staff's side, there will be almost 100% dedication.

Also, we do not aim to have a large community. A small community where each member knows the other member. Like a handful of good programmers/coders who are always constructive (and few criticizers too xD) rather than thousands of alien members whom no one knows.

something like wj is in regards with troll, flame, scam etc ... if you know what i mean :P
Nah, there will be no childish act tolerated. It'd be a community for learning and experimenting. But there will be sections where if you feel you wanna have fun, then you'd be free to do so and others could join you in your "fun parade"

I personally was feeling a bit negative with this whole concept, but our team was very positive with it and thanks to them that we started to develop this idea and after reading the positive replies here, I think it'd be a good concept.

As for the members, the site will start from new year 2012. A fresh new beginning for a new venture along with some bright minded members of the site.

i was talking about the activeness that can be there :P

As long as the members are active then the members will stay active, LoL. You're achieving a forum version of SO? It should be a give and take: ask for help & give help.

Guys,
I would really love to get your opinions on how you want the members (developers) to interact with each other?
We are currently thinking on:
Chat/PM, Latest Updates (categorized), Kinda like follow/add friends.
What all can be there?

It may not be a hit coz expertsexchange have everything u need. Plus i would like to pay $99 per year than to wait days for answer.

edit: This good for freelancers though

@EnCiph3r: Mate the thing with expertsexchange is that "Its a help portal", and they charge their members for asking questions to experts.
But the main idea behind this project, is to provide a "COMMUNITY" for all the developers to "INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER". I hope i'm making myself clear, cause frankly, i've seen many sites even including facebook communities for devs but noobs ruin it all :-|

The criteria will be damn simple, a register UI with basic questions like E-Mail, pass etc, registration process would be simple and short, and "MIGHT" include some basic HTML knowledge on part of registering like checking page source for some hidden key etc (Though my team is in favor of this, but i think it shouldn't be there.)
The main thing to keep noobs out would be regular check by staff to detect noobs (guys posting useless stuff, spamming etc) Though measures would be integrated in script itself, still human staff will monitor.
What i'm looking for are some ideas as to how our members would interact?
I got some ideas about UI, which i will show off here once im finished with my exams and all.

As black0xio said, other than that, the community will allow the learners to participate in the community to ask questions and clear their programming doubts. They can also ask for help with regards to debugging their program/script.

The main part for us is that, we can provide guaranteed help with respect to -
PHP/MySQL
xHTML/CSS
Photoshop

But we need some active members from the desktop applications field which would assist the members in the community. I hope its clear.

Good active, helping and supporting members is definately one of the main reasons to achieve great success.
Yup, I just hope that everything goes as per the plans.

Also, we aim not to have a big community, but a smaller one where we have active members rather than zombies.

It will not have any newbies or noobs
Who you Plan to benefit then ?
According to Ppl on internet , if I Know Something Better than You ,You are a newbie for me....Eventually there will be only 1 Guy/Gal in the forum left :p

My doubt is , How will you decide whether a user is newbie/Noob ?
