zPanel is out of date. The current build which is safe for any local public use is rapidcp (formerly zpanel before project was abandoned).

zPanel has all features needed for regular host, but for the linux portion it will need all root logins to work correctly (linux login/sql/ftp). RapidCP now runs under windows only as the integrated portion of cherokee server is all windows os.

I was a lead developer back in 2006 when the project was new, but the owner decided to quit and former coders started rapidcp with zpanel as core code.

Seems like a good alternative to cpanel for basic stuff like creating ftp accounts sql databases etc

I've tried zPanel which was my first choice, plus they have a skin that makes its interface just like cpanel's, but right now I am currently using Kloxo until I find an SSL module for it.

I prefer Direct Admin - but its nice to know there's a free alternative. Nice share :) I'm going to let a few friends know about zpanel so thanks :)
