People have been talking alot around about Charity, Charity and so on.. This is the season of Christmas and there are still lots of problems happening around the world. Just been thinking, why not create a sort of campaign or donation thingy, whatever money wJ collects it can be donated to some Charity fund or some organisation or something.

What do you say?

I do it a lot with my affiliate programs. The programs that attract uploaders do not do well at all for donations, but my mainstream and adult programs get a lot of donators. I stick to toys for children (Christmas time) and the salvation army since they cover everything (battered women, giving people places to stay when they lose their homes, food banks, natural disasters, ect).

If you're really thinking about giving to the needy, there's plenty of registered charities already established to do so. It would be easier to do your part by donating what you can to them. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping the needy, but there's no point doing it on a website for webmasters when you can just do it directly. If you have the means to help somebody and the notion to see it through, but you're unsure of what charity to donate to, you'll find plenty of useful information on websites such as Charity Watch, Every Click, My Donate, etc.

Or, as most people here are more geared towards making money, you could donate to a charity like Kiva, which allows you to help start an entrepreneur off on the right foot by providing some funding for them (could be a butcher, a fisherman, an aspiring artist, a mechanic, the list is endless), and they repay you your initial investment, usually within a year, leaving your money free to invest in another entrepreneur to help them get started.

These are just some examples, you can find plenty more on Google if you look hard enough.

We plan to donate an undisclosed amount to a charity of our members choice. A thread regarding this will be created soon. When I read the title, I thought you meant a hit counter as in how much we donated since we started - don't see that happening.

I remember when the previous administration did something similar to what you said, and it worked out very well. But we don't plan on doing it this year as we'll be donating ourself. Agreed with NordicNode too - If, however, members wish to donate themselves to the same charity, we will recognise the donation and state it in our thread of charity donations.

Thanks
