Windows 11 Pro how to exclude patch file not to be quarantined ?

Hi All

Windows 11 Virus and Thread protection keeps quarantine a patch file for some software despite how many times I had restored it. Can I create a rule to exclude that ?

Yeah, you can exclude it so Windows Defender stops flagging it.


Go to Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage settings under "Virus & threat protection settings", then scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions. From there, you can add the specific file, folder, or even the entire software directory.


Just make sure the file is actually safe before excluding it because Defender can be a bit overprotective sometimes, especially with patchers or modded tools.

Yes, right-click on Windows Security in the taskbar, go to Virus & threat protection, then scroll to Exclusions and add the specific file or folder there.
