Yes, but with the caveat that it's K2, not Everest, that's the tallest peak. But only by 600 ft. :D
On reflection, and to nitpick a bit more.
Everest [Chomolunga] rises from a plateau at 17,00 feet altitude, K2 from one at 16,500 Foot. Denali [Mt. McKinley in Alaska at 20, 564 ft. rises from a 5500 ft base altitude. so in fact Denali is taller - in the sense of climbing distance than either of the asian peaks.
I've summited Denali, and I'd stiil like to summit Chomolunga. But K2 ... ? ... nah, that one's a flat killer.
