Which is faster - Windows 7 or Windows XP?

hello,
i am thinking of upgrading my os ,i am currently using xp but i am confused that windows 7 can taking as much as load as xp ,so according to your experience please tell me that can windows 7 can take as much as load as xp and still works faster with 2gb ram and core 2 duo 2.8ghz???

i have ati graphics card 1gb ,it easily handles big gameslike gta 4 and crysis 2 ....

i think you should try to install win 7, and see you self, if you not installing lot of unnecessary soft, better for you will be win 7

coree2duo can easily handle 7 , whats ur graphics drivers if they are out-dated you must stick to XP . I had the issue with my old PC but now i upgraded :D

Windows 7 with 1GB of ram? I've lived a year with that man, I could barely move the cursor across the screen, so no, it's not fine. OP, if your PC has a decent CPU and at least 2GB of ram, make the switch to Windows 7. XP has nothing unique.

I've tried Max, Maya, Real flow in both the OS, but XP is extremely stable. CPU overclocked to 4 Ghz and Ram to 1800Mhz , Win 7 often shutdown with blue screen error, but XP can handle any overclock settings.

1gb ram is minimum required RAM for Win 7.
So I guess when you will try some more application at the same time it will hang a little bit.

If you dont have any problems with current OS them why upgrade ?

because i want to play battlefield 3 which supports only win 7 and also newer games will support win 7 only ...
