Well, begging is in 99% scam, business.
It is hard to believe in that because, first reaction is on what you see in front of you. You either see a kid, dirty, or some women. However, that is the part of the scam, to hit you on your feelings.
If you live in a developed country, don't you ask yourself, why there are beggars, if they can receive social help, when there are public kitchens, shelters...??
In some countries, those beggars live better than you and me....

Last TOI (Times of India) survey proved that one of the beggar family earned over 20,000 INR from begging had 7 children deployed on several cross roads.
They lived in slum, no electricity bills, had a television, air cooler, 24 hour electricity coming from nearby poles.

No wonder, PEOPLE KNOW BEGGING IS BUSINESS for some and job for others..

For those who don't give a shit about genuine beggars - should put themselves in their shoes. How'd you feel if all you had was a blanket and a pavement to sleep on?

There are hardly any beggars here but I do see 1-3 when I go town, and give them loose change. Some of the beggars who I come across just need it for drugs.

I met one guy at a bus station, he was old and filthy, so I gave him his bus fare. Next thing I see.. he's pulling out £10 notes. -.-

Pakistan/India - Have beggars on almost every road (although I didn't see many in Islamabad). WTF are they doing with all the donated funds! "£?%^"^&£$"^

i dont give a fuck about them. i found out one guy like fakes being homeless everyday.. but hes always on the busiest intersection. he makes avg of $200 a day.. all non taxable and drives a BMW

I don't really see many beggars in my city now-a-days. Only the ones who go to every home and do some dance or sing and some other things. Well, I give them some change and they go and dance next door :|
I am sure they must be making decent money but they're working for it anyway.

And those whom I see on the streets, I don't give anything to em (except the handicapped and old ones) as they're mostly 30-50 year old women who can work. (We dont find many "kaamwalis" now a days so it'll be better if they take up that job :P)

Beggars that actually do things like dancing, playing the instrument etc - Atleast they're doing something to gain attraction and money, unlike some that just sit & beg.

I feel really sorry for those who don't have any arms, or legs, that beg. :'(
