What server do you use?

Hi,

I thought it would be a good idea to see what servers people use for there websites here along with software etc installed to ensure they are running smoothly.

You can include VPS's aswell :)

For InWarez:
AMD Phenom x4
4GB RAM
cPanel/WHM
CSF firewall
1GBPS port

And a few other odds and sods done :)

^^ I'm going to be testing LightHTTPD and Ngnix over the next week to improve the performance and loading times as Apache sucks for the resources IW uses :P

Whats yours?

...as i don't own any warez sites currently, i only have it to host my clients.
 
Such specs for a forum of your size? I got a quad core @ 2.5ghz, 2gb ram, and run a forum fine, together with a blog, a ddl and some other shit :|

Really - the forum is not huge on traffic right now but it is sure heavy on the resources, going to be testing ngnix and light httpd to improve it.
 
Well.. If you say so. It's just hard to imagine... vB really doesn't take up all that much resources, I mean yeah, warez-bb needs a server like that (and another for the DB) but dunno about the other B-Grade warez forums...
 
Heavy on resources, sure.. but my server can handle ~20k uniques to IPB fine together with ~25k uniques to blogs.. without any issue. You really don't need that much power. I use apache by the way, which makes things even worse.. with ngnix the amount would probably double.,
 
It depends on the processes..
If you run various bots/mids every minute, you will need a server like that.

Default installation of vB/IPB/phpBB doesn't take much resources..
 
Its not a default install, has alot of plugins which is more than likely why it eats to much.
Will look into improving it, shouldnt be hard to track down.
 
Probably 1 plugin that's crappy coded or something.. I had the same thing at wordpress, pushed the load 3x (while it was a simple comment rating plugin). Try disabling them 1 by 1 or something :P

Lol well I'll have to see what it is but alot of the plugins are needed for the overall forum/design of the site sadly.

I'm currently setting up a server to test Ngnix will see what it runs like lol.
