What are you guys going to do when VB 3.8.x Becomes unsupported?

Well, since VB is already on 4 sooner or later VB 3.8.x will stop getting supported I believe,

What are you guys going to do when its not supported and its full of vulnerabilities?


Saying migrate to IPB is easy and doesn't sound bad but as you know the passwords don't transfer so you can lost MOST of your members!

vBulletin 3.8.x version WON'T get unsupported, just like the phpBB 2.x.x , both of them are very good forum scripts. And they got no bigger vulnerabilities, even though, Jelsoft decides to trash vB 3.8.x , there are lots of ex vBulletin workers, who would continue releasing updates.
 
I have to disagree with Jason. You really need official support to make a script worth while. Sure their will be some unofficial support for a while but that will reduce and disappear with time. As new products appear you'll be forced to update or change. Take something like HTML 5 or CSS3 that Youtube uses.
As more browsers support these fully you'd be crazy not to use them therefore you'll have to upgrade. Same thing goes for plugins like Facebook, twitter or even link checkers. As they become available and their's nothing for vb3 you'll be left struggling.

I know this from experience as one site I used to work on a lot is still using IPB 2.3.6 and it's a disaster to get any mods or support and it's dying a slow and painful death.
 
vb4.1 is being released with superb features as fab and sophie says , with refined stylevars and database structure is refactored , so vb4.1 will be a hit as what it seems.

and when vb4.1 will be released , vb3 will be officially unsupported :(
 
vBulletin 3.8.7 coming While I mentioned here that 3.8.6 would be the last 3 series release, we are currently working on 3.8.7 , It will be a small release to fix some small issues in 3.8.6 - I don't have an ETA as yet.
We anticipate 3.8.7 will be the last 3 series release.

I will wait for VB6 :P

vBulletin 6 will be out some time between Mid-2012 and early 2014. It will be revolutionary! No one will have anything like it! It will make posts for you and it will auto-magically recruit new forum members, too! All you'll have to do is sit back and collect your AdSense money! It fixes coffee for visitors and serves as a receptionist when needed. If your washing machine is "Internet Ready" it will wash your underwear using the integrated cron system. If you are a male nerd, it will flush out compatible female nerds in Facebook and several other social sites and various sales sites. You won't even have to leave the basement if it finds a female who can tolerate a nerd and who 'fits your needs' on Craig's List ... Also - vB 6 will be totally setup-free through self-configuration.

I'd tell you more of the details, but as you can guess they're secret so our competition do not know all the things we will be doing.

u rock AmN , :) ^..^ , btw on the contary , vb3.8.7 will be released before vb4.1 as i know/heard , but really even staff sometimes don't know when the scriptuer's will releases their product...
 
I currently use licensed vBulletin and its crap. I will go back to nulled after its done. Theres absolutely no difference. vB is becoming unsecure by every version
