Trying to keep a big league community balanced can be a very exhausting and extensive task. With all the spam, topics posted in the incorrect areas, abuse/misuse of the forums, disrespect, etc that is on a community the size of WJ - it's not an easy task to maintain at times.

Something that I have noticed more and more often now that I have been allowed back here :fly: is that there is a lot of disrespect throughout the community. In my opinion this isn't a good vibe to give off to anyone. Whether it be a new member, old member or a guest. When someone views a thread and they see "bashing" or "flaming" they are immediately in most cases deterred from participating. Unless, they too would like to jump on in with the ignorance - which is what happens a lot unfortunately.

I think if you look around you can find a lot of threads and posts that get out of hand here, and it can be virtually stopped.

One thing that I found that worked really well (as I have ran into this same issue in the past) for me was creating a "War Forum". I was a very lenient Operator and didn't like banning people, so I created a way for people with anger issues or digital tourette's syndrome to unleash their anger however they wanted.... The War Forum.

Some might argue that even having a war forum promotes negativity and un-professionalism, but I beg to differ. Everyone, everywhere at some point or another gets mad, gets irritated and does or says something that just isn't nice. Some counters to those things are taking a deep breath, punching a punching bag, or having sex :ff: (my favorite). When people are online they have difficulty separating themselves. Many people use the internet as an outlet and an escape to begin with.

This is why I would like to propose a "WAR Forum". For people who continuously bash and become irritated in threads, so they can share their feelings out in the open whenever they wish, however they wish, without the feeling of restriction or ban. This will reduce the amount of ignorance displayed on all of the other forums, concentrate them on one forum, and stop people from taking cheap shots at one another. It will help bring the community closer (trust me it will) and will actually increase the overall experience of the community.

As of right now there is not an outlet for members on WJ who have short tempers or anger issues. So what's happening is they snap on people in threads here and there. If the WAR Forum is enacted all disrespect outside of that forum should be ZERO Tolerance and result in an immediate ban if done in the slightest sense. Just sayin... The War forum will be something new that people can have fun doing at the same time as containing the highly unprofessional, disrespectful remarks.

What say you? Sha'll we go to War? :pirate:

Absolutely not, this community went through way too many similar things to the one you are suggesting right now, I can only imagine, kids, nerds, no lifers fucking around this place like there are doing it already, uggh, nope!

Talking like that would qualify for the War Forum. You are angry at the suggestion it's clear, and as a result your response shows that. Whether you realize it or not, WJ is large and people aren't restricted for being a "kid" or a "nerd" or a "no lifer". In fact a lot of people here would take offense to the "nerd" word, because I sure do. I'm a cool nerd.

I've seen this kind of attitude repeat itself for the past 2 decades now. A scene is new, it grows old, it starts to die, people shut out the new bright people, those new potentials move on to a place that they are accepted, the scene or website then dies. You essentially by talking the way that you do and putting down the "new" guys or the "nerdy" guys are effectively harming this community. A community, nor a scene can sustain itself without "new" people. There are only so many old timers around and with each passing day they die.

So why hate on the War forum? You can go off on me all you want in there for it's creation :).

I dont think its a totally bad idea, i remember the one on USAW, it was more just for fun, of course there are a few that get butthurt. But these kind of things already happen here on WJ anyway, just in almost every thread on the forum instead of all in one category. But whatever, not my decision to make.
 
Not going to happen. Too many people cry when they get raped. If it were to happen, one could only assume there would be rules, and that simply won't work for a war forum.

I am angry at the idea of that special section, yes.
While I can respect your idea or suggestion, my words were not meant to offend you or anyone else who considers himself any of the things I said above.

I'm glad that you somehow mentioned the older members over here, well I'd like to include myself in that group since I've been around for quite a few years now and as you know this place has gone through many many changes throughout all these years, we've witnessed Drama, members just messing around with others, pointless discussions, anything that you can think of.
All these things, believe it or not got my head shaking all the time, thinking what's wrong with these people?
I seriously think of that every time I see those type of things around here, and you have no idea how that makes me mad.
I am just not willing to witness another section created especially for that kind of members who got nothing better to do than throw jabs and one another, I mean, hey I'm okay with fun, but I'd really hate to see this being implemented into the forum in one way or another.

I understand this place might get boring for certain people at certain times, but I just can't see it happening, that's all.

Once again, I am sorry if someone caught feelings to my words on the previous post.
 
For me, as a user, I would love to have it, wanted to suggest it long time ago.
From administrotors perspective, not 'everything' could go, which most of people would love to see, and that is staff bashing, and tearing them apart (which obviously is against the rules, because it looks bad, staff could get biased toward someone, and after all staff is not here to fight with users no matter what).
So, not sure how to wage it for now. Waiting for more input from users, so I can see all cons and pros of it.
 
Staff makes 0.0001% of this forum, so I wouldn't really agree on that, for now.
They/we would be off limits, so we could be focused on more important things on this forum

Staff should be off limits simply because they are the staff. You can't go around venting on an Administrator thinking that there won't be repercussions. This particular forum should be for the other 58,150 (fifty eight thousand one hundred and fifty) members.

We're always going to have members taking jabs at one another. Isn't it better for the community if they happen in random threads once in a while as opposed to in a war forum (imagine the thread titles) for all to see?

I know you're an American and maybe it's a cultural thing but I just don't see how encouraging conflict could be a good thing. Here's a tip for the next time any of you find yourself angry at someone on the internet. Switch off your computer, go outside, go for a walk, enjoy the fresh air. When you get back online, remember, you suck at the internet whenever you let someone get to you like that.
