Thread Updates

I have noticed on some forums that there is this function where if a registered user is on a certain thread, if any posts have been placed, a small update on the top of the screen would say There has been x updates, refresh page view most recent message.

I do think it would be a handy feature to have here since certain threads do get a lot of posts.

Just my 2 cents.

it's kinda like this on the top of the window. it only updates if the user is active on that tab / window

Imagine the resources it would need to run this query for so many members, with so many posts being made per minute.

good point but that site has the almost same Alexa rank as here. It is always full of users.
