The UK is not particularly prepared for a big outbreak as they had no way of knowing which virus would be emerging - they have simply expected a new pandemic for a while now and fatalities are sadly the norm. Whether you catch it or not and whether you survive it is a lottery. Also the health services are worried the virus will mutate and return again in the autumn and then they will have no effective drugs to combat it.
