Staff Username Change - Limit of chars

My pointy is ,name change is the easiest thing you can do to create maximum confusion

i mean the same

@Hawk,

For Example:
Lifetalk, initially registered as lifetalk, then was renamed to Lifetalk and he's been continuing with it.
WD, initially registered as warezdemon, then was changed to wdemon and now WD. Now that'd be a somewhat agreeable as his whole identity isn't altered.
But, MrSandvik to Overjaculation. Phamous to Belieber. Jason to SucidalMedia. Loget to V1rgin (though he reverted back), all these changes clearly strip off the original identity of the person.

RT - I Dint say u are hurting someone... but it is a bit disappointing for someone when he sees a staff in 2 letters but he/she cant get it instantly.

I just think it's gotten pretty confusing, some mods change names too quickly or it isn't clear who is who? Pretty confusing, makes me feel like a noob here, while I (used) to know all mods/admins...

Mine was done by elj way before i was respected due to confusions so meh its not a special treatment for respected members.

PS: The minimum limit should still be 3.

Mindy - Name changes are fine but not bypassing the name-limit. Thats all i tried to say. :)

I don't think there will be any rule enforcing staff to not request for username changes that are two characters. As the announcement states, we dedicate our time to moderate WJunction, we handle reports, moderate the forums, deal with scam reports, and the list goes on. Staff or respected members aren't "bypassing" the limit as an administrator is changing the username for them, there was no "limit" set by an administrator.

We also have bigger pm boxes - should that be made fair too? Theres a few perks and being disappointed that you cant have a 2 letter name seems ridiculous to me. First world problems ftw.

people need to see it as just a perk that an MOD has... That's all. It shouldn't be disappointing.
Just like the ability to close threads. Us users cant. But i dont see anyone moaning about that??

For example, Its just the same as playing Call of Duty online, when you first start you only have the basic weapons and perks... whereas the better players with more experience (rank 60 - or whatever it is) have all the weapons and perks... it seems like a huge disadvantage, but so what. You keep playing until you earn the rank to get the better stuff.

I know this isn't a game, and shouldnt be confused. This is a community. But that is just a small example.

To be honest I think its just a huge fuss other basically nothing.

@Mindy - If that indirectly was meant for me then i declare a debate now. :P I Support Hawk's words. I Respect what you people do for this community but should it not be only for the love for it? You have the color change, Bigger PM limits, Name-changes & Mod options. Isn't that enough?

@Ash - I dont have anything against name-changes, Hawk doesn't even want it. ;)

@RT & WD - Again saying, I don't have anything against ur name changes.. U guys deserve to have something special like the namechange but I think 2 letter names look a bit too much.

People know you by your nickname, and just like you don't change your real name IRL, why changing nickname here? I see no reason for such thing. Even if ppl call Mr RT, only RT, that doesn't mean he should instantly change his nick to RT.
I don't even want to comment K32 from Messiah,or Overjaculation from Mr Sandvik, such things should be forbidden even for staff, completely hiding old identity without a reason, and making confusion. It is ridiculous, and not necessary. Doesn't contribute to anything at all. So, why changing something that do work?

1. Did you became a better man doing it? nop
2. Is there any practical use of it? nop
3. Did it create confusion? yep

Please feel free to add one single point, where changing your name on this forum did anything good.
I agree, you can change your nickname, but again, you can change your real name in your real life. But you still don't do that. So, pass your real life behavior here.

Not bitching, not moaning, actually, can't care less, just my 2 cents on this matter

Though we may love WJunction, it does not necessarily mean you must love a site to become a member of staff. I never said staff should not have name changes, all I asked for is a limit on how many times we should be allowed to.

I don't understand how anyone would be confused when infact those members of staff that amended their usernames created an announcement so everyone on this board are aware of the change. OJ and K32 aren't hiding their old identities, it's a mere username change only.

One letter change, two letter change, three letter wouldn't make much difference as long as the identity remains the same.

Mr-R-T to RT is fine. warezdemon to WD is fine. We know who they are. But a completely new username would be somewhat unacceptable.

EDIT:
If RT changes his name to Mr-Awesome or if WD changes his name to EpicDetective, then that'd create a major confusion.

When I log in forum daily, first thing I do is visiting chatbox, not the announcement thread to see which staff member changed his username, so, obviously, when I see some new name in green, typing in chatbox, I have no clue who that is, and that is the moment of confusion. Hope that helps you to understand where and how confusion is created. It is a short period of time, till things get cleared who's who, but getting used to new nick lasts kinda more than that several seconds.... As I said, it's not bitching, you guys do whatever you want, none of my business, I am talking from my own perspective.
Btw, imagine some old user, who didn't logged in 2-3 months, and he logged now, when no one kept his old nick.
Peace.
