Speedy method to promote a website through social media

I am recently developing a website. Now I need to promote my website through social media, like Twitter. I am little bit confused that how exactly I am able to do so. I already have plugins installed so every new blog post is instantly tweeted. But I need to know more about this promotion method. I mean is there anything else I can do in other social networks.
