Wanted to share my opinion on 'em.
Simply put; Whoever tampered with them did a terrible job. Theres like 3 different styles now, and way to many of them. It's little details like these that can shoot your site in the foot. On top of that you have the ghetto/half assed meme similes that look like shit (its hella blurry, nigga you even tryin'?).
EDIT: Take back what I said about the white BG.

Hella mediocre.

Hey, enough with it man. Smileys are just for fun. Stop whining about every little thing and sometimes little crazy and cute things are good. It is not like that its a school or something.. take the easy road. :D
 
Terrible job? That's a nice way to put it, thank you.

The only reason why I haven't removed the old smilies was due to the fact that we can have a variety of smilies rather then the same old smilies or to have them removed and replace them with the new ones.

I appreciate your opinion but look at it from different views.

I definitely agree with this, the smileys are pretty much ruining my life on a day to day basis, I can't believe someone would think about mixing three different types of smileys on a forum, I actually feel physically sick.

On Topic, the troll smileys are all looking fine. Maybe they're a bit big. I'll fix em. :D

And yes, there are several smileys on the same genre. For eg: :| :neutral:, :angel: :heiligenschein: :laugh: :-=.
Also, : D smiley is replaced by : )) smiley. - :D
I am not against smileys, but yeah, a organized set will make it look a lot better.
 
Different smilies for the same genre were added purposely so that we give users the option to choose which one they'd like to use. It does not necessarily mean that a forum must stick to one set of smilies, we can use several types.
