I understand its necessary to do restrictions to prevent abuse, but would it be possible for these to be relaxed, even if its just for the respected classes to prevent abuse.

Why?
We are webmasters. We are creative people. I think its only natural that we are able to express ourselves in our signatures.

What I dont want?
Is the removal of the height restriction, just give us more lines and more features (e.g images).

This height is more than enough to advertise.. (which you meant here) . All you need is, to improvise and be creative to deal with this space. I'd opt for an animated image, instead of a lengthy signature, spoiling the forum threads. I can understand that you want it relaxed for your group, but perhaps an animated banner would do in this case.

I dont want a relaxation of the height, what I want is less restrictions on the content.

Ill use my current signature as an example (which is an improv since I cant do 2 images and link them accordingly). Its actualy a screenshot of my signature on another site with the background removed in photoshop... Yes its made in BBCode. While I was supprised that the length on that site was long enough to allow this it was a pleasant suprise.

On WJ you cant even use coloured text, nor have more than one image (so if wanting colour you have to use an image...)

One can agree that signatures are limited. Since we are in process of transition, this suggestion will be on the table, and we'll see what can be done about that. Can you be more specific, what is exactly that you need, how much of something? We need to see how it works, if you know what I mean.

Ill put them down as ideas:
- Colour and Font support (used to have it)
- A more realiztic image limit (we are limited by size already, so 3 or so small images shouldnt take much more time page load wise)
- If not more images, then image map support. Ive seen many bbcode implementations.
- More characters / Lines (again we already have a height restriction).

Personally images is what matters me but the rest others would probably find useful. An aditional note reguarding images, page load time is still important so keep a limit in place (3?). Or perhaps restrict users less than XXX posts from doing it (persume that users with more posts = more knowledge of the effects).

A relaxation of rules on signature for respected members will be made, as for members, there will be no changes. Changes will be made this month.

Thank you.

Why not do what splitice suggested with the post limit rule. Users with 500-600 posts will be more commited to the site then someone with 50 posts.

Seeing as most respected users rarely come on or post

While I agree, I understand hesitance. Maybe WJ needs another user group, "WJ Addicts" or something. For users who have proven themselves but arent at a respected level yet.

Loonycgb2: I see you have the same idea as me more or less.

Well i see the respected group sorta like a beta group you guys get all the features when only 8% of you use them.

Why not show a little respect to the contributing users.
I have no sig so im not all to crazy about getting the option but others will

I dont think we have any extra features. The respected group has been in the past and still is now a group for users who have been involved in the Webmaster scene for many years and have proven ourselves. Additionally for people who have proven their worth to the community through contributions, good behavior etc.

As far as im aware this will be the first feature we get that standard users don't get. And its only to prevent abuse (accidental or purposeful) I think.

Loony, splitIce is right. We DO NOT get any special treatment/features which you think. In fact, it becomes the group's moral responsibility to not to troll like usual members, staff expects more from us and TyPe LikE ThiS. We are just a bunch of hamsters who are required by WJ admins for all the new experimental features here. Thats it, we are test dummies. ^.^

Well I just feel that less important/valued to the community now.

I have no intention to make the respected group "superior" to the normal members, but they deserve thing/s (keep note I said thing/s) for what they have and are doing for WJunction. We promote respected members not because they've been on WJunction for long periods of time only but for their helpfulness, great attitude and knowledge. Members can work themselves up to the group, there is nothing stopping anyone from working for the group.

I'll look into this and talk to the other administrators, but cannot promise anything.

That's actually not a bad idea. I will speak to the other administrators and staff and let you guys know updates (after Christmas).

Talking about respect, consider this;

You guys asked for iTrader - We installed it as a trial basis and have decided to keep it.

You guys kept posting F5 to users on the shoutbox, we implemented AJAX PM Notifications, not only did we do that but we installed AJAX visitor messages too. So that none of you can never miss a message again while online. If you hadn't noticed, there's also sound for PMs received if you have AJAX PMs enabled. So if you are on another tab, you'll know you received a message on WJ.

You guys asked for a new skin, we worked for over one month with the respected group to give you one of the best skins anyone could use.

And you're talking about respect? We're not respecting our members? Loonycgb2, I hope that your views change after reading my reply. I am here to ensure that members have a fantastic time on WJunction but it's these little comments that upset me, as I put all my hard work in ensuring that everything is done precisely and on time.

Thank you

I think the words he meant was "take into account". Being a "respected member" to some extent means a bit of sucking up. <-- see that right there is disrespecting :whistling:(if that's what Loony meant, which I doubt. To loony, this is an example of disrespecting). Point being is that, as mentioned earlier, maybe people with higher post counts should have some "thing/s" that the respected members may have (hence how i said some), simple things like a siggy over limit (not too much). Then again this could provoke spamming but then again.... its better then no traffic, if you know what I mean ;)

I would appreciate if you do not attempt to disrespect me nor other members of staff as I prefer not to the options I have available to myself.

We have plans for the entire WJunction user groups, all the respected members receive is a private section and less restrictions on signature rules (soon).

Respected members don't do any sucking up (as much as I would love it!) - they're all NOMINATED to the group and all current members of respected groups vote on the nominations, as well as staff do too.

I hope your views about "sucking up" changes, as you have been on WJunction for a long time, you should understand what I am saying.

Thank you

That wasn't an attempt, please don't make assumptions Hawk, it was merely an example of disrespecting that Loony may have needed as a way of creating a contrasting idea between one that is respecting and one that is disrespecting (and even if it was an attempt, hence how I said "to some extent"). Anyways, lets not centralize the thread into this, the whole part of feeling discriminated was merely a comment and I thank you for taking it into account as that's what the comment is for. I think you've tried to change peoples perspectives too many times Hawk, in this thread. Stop trying, people are way to ignorant.
