Short and random OR long and meaningful?

When it comes to thinking up a domain name, it's pretty difficult to find one that is short, catchy and relevant to your niche. Most of the good ones have already been taken. So, you're left with either using longer words, combinations of words, or random combinations of letters that sound catchy.

If you were to start a new social network, which of the following do you think would be a better option: a relatively short domain name that is catchy, but doesn't have any meaning in the dictionary (e.g.: comfof.com), or a longer domain name composed of actual words that have meaning (e.g. communityforfriends.com)?

Would you rather go for a short and meaningless domain name or for a long domain name that contains actual words?
