Recent topics mod VS googlebot

I was wondering if googlebot sees a recent topic mod on the frontpage of a forum as more activity/updates and thus increasing the times it will come round to crawl.

Anyone with recent topics mod on his/her frontpage noticed google coming round more often?

If you submit a sitemap and you tell it that the front page is updated daily, once the bots start crawling and picking up that page more and more, results should show up in google.

This is fully based off experience from just using google and coming across some of those posts. I in no way know what I am talking about.
