Question about GPU accelerated programs

I currently have an HD 5770 gpu I use for video editing and converting, but considering getting the R9 280x in my next build, will I see a vast performance increase since its a much better video card, or do the programs have a limitations?

Big boost in performance you will not see, at least you work in Sony Vegas or Adobe.
Your video card not so bad; think about "really worth it?".
