It’s time to think outside the box. Most of the promotion we do to our forum is purely online.

1) The easiest method of promoting is actually telling people that you have a forum.

2) Try advertising in your local newspaper. Getting advertisement spots is really easy but sometimes can be a bit expensive

3) On a Local Radio Show (In the rush hours, of course).

4) Create a few hundred business cards and ask for them to be put up in related shops.

5) Create your own branded T-shirts and hats and wear them about. Have your URL clearly visible on the front and back.

Do you have any more methods of promoting you forum out with the internet? Do you think it’s possible to promote effectively without the internet?

For warez sites? Seriously? Be anonymous or your ass is up for some pounding lol.

Newspaper is realy a bad idea, unless u have got a legal site.

For a legal site, there's many way to promote your site, like buy a banner, stick your banner on bus, train lol, buy ads from your local net provider, they'll show your ads during tv shows. Stick your banner just outside of schools, colleges etc. etc.

I don't know if you understand the time or cost involved in offline promotion. Printing buisness cards, stickers, and making posters all cost money not to mention the time involved in distributing them. And as for advertising in local radios and newspapers that's far more expensive.

Their is another issue your forgetting. This is local advertising only. The only people who hear and see your offline advertising is in your local area so unless your site is dedicated to a local music band, artist or football team (examples of local sites I've done) then your wasting your time.

Then their is the further problem of people remembering. When someone sees a new advert or link their is a 5 second window before they forget it. If it's online they can click the link in that 5 seconds but if it's a poster, radio station or newspaper they can't click it so they forget it.

If your site is a legal site,

Cut out strips of paper with your site URL in it and paste it at the side of the computer cubicle in internet cafes everytime you rent, it's very effecting (y)

This is a good topic idea. My mate and I have agreed to vandalise public toilets with a sharpie promoting out porn tube, however, I am going to steer clear of the uni toilets in case the IT team can track me down and find that I am an enrolled student. I would rather a fine that expulsion. We are also going to get visprint business cards and scatter them all over a festival I am attending early next year. I think the business cards are a good idea because people can pick them up and put them in their pockets and if people are in the toilets they can visit the site on their phone whilst taking a dump.

Anyone else have some innovative ideas?
