i go for public .. bcoz of lots of content ...

in public you can find seeders still after years ..

but in private ... all the torrents which are 3 months old have 0 seeders ...........

--- edit ---
need example ???? see iptorrent or sceneacces

True, but the DL speeds kinda suck. Plus, stuff is posted a bit later and the chances you'll end up downloading midget porn instead of [INSERT_MOVIE_NAME] are way higher.
Happened to me twice lulz.

I'll never use public trackers again.
I kept getting DMCA notices from my ISP with public trackers.

Now that I'm using private trackers again, my ISP never sent any warning letters.

Public tracker for me. The essence of torrent for me is sharing, so sharing on public trackers can make your files reach as many peers as possible.

Actually I would say NZB, as most torrent releases are uploaded in this method quite fast and you don't have to make sure that you keep your ratio and instant full speed. But strictly talking about torrents, private are good for fast speeds and security but in general suck for seeding. Public torrents for the older stuff (eg tv shows or movies in Dutch). Most negative of public torrents is that in general they don't have the speed of private torrents. Recently I bought a NAS (Network Attached Storage) with embedded Utorrent so I don't care about speed or seeding because it is separate from my computer so it downloads and seeds 24/7.

So there is not 'best' as they all have their advantages (and disadvantages).

I used to think private trackers are great, but since they impose seeding on you, I've switched to public (tpb) and it's just as good.
