I want to activate Caller Line Identification Restriction (CLIR ) service on my Mobile number, I contacted my Mobile Operator and they told to get approval from local police station for this,
That means whenever I call someone they will see as Private Number in their screen

now I am sure police officers will surely be asking the reason for activating this service
So i will be pleased if anyone of you can tell me few good reasons so that my request doesn't gets denied

No, Nothing like, police will obviously say NO besides OP is not a Govt. Minister to ask for such privileges.

BTW why do you need such a thing @OP!
 
actually my sister is getting calls from many different numbers disturbing her all the tme

she had changed the number more than 3 , 4 times but still having the same problem .

so i want a private number for her


when i complained in police they told they don't have access to the records of mobile numbers so we cna't do anyhting ..
 
What kind of calls is your sis getting, Prank calls or vulgar calls. If so file a complaint in police station .

Dont ask for the numbers list.
 
Get recommendation from a senator or from a political influence. or else just state a reason and shell out some money.
 
So your sister is getting random calls and you wanna stop that, right?
But by restricting caller ID, you're only stopping those people from getting your number whom you're calling, get my point? So basically it means your sister will still get those random calls because obviously she will give her no. to her friends and it will pass on to wrong hands from there. Same had happened the last 3-4 times. Obviously your sister didn't call those random guys hence revealing her no. I hope you understand what I mean.
So if this is really the reason, then it won't help. Better track down those random bastards and do what you want :P
 
I am talking of taking a new connection and activating the ID restriction on it



I told about the numbers to police
Listen to what they said

1) We don't have records of mobile,
2) who will read this long application
3) we don't write and complain regarding any mobile issue..
4) they don't have manners of talking
5) Openly asks for Bribe! and tells no bribe = no work!

we don't have to do anything with it , it's not our matter


If they don't see the crimes done via mobile then who is responsible ?
the mobile operator tells to ask police station
and police station officers tells as written above ..





!!!!! THIS IS INDIA ,,, THIS HAPPENS IN EVERY CITY OF INDIA!!! IN EVERY GOVERNMENT SECTOR !!!!

What Cell Phone You Are Using ? If you are using Something Big Like IPhone Or Android you can download free softwares which will protect your device from unwanted calls..

i am using " Call Blocker " in my Xperia.. beside if you really want a private number skype will help you ;)
 
I've still got no idea why people set their numbers to private here in Australia. Confuses me, and I never answer private numbers.

with this reason i guess they would provide it but again its not that easy
coz when u get a call with a private number kind of name on your screen u obviously panic. same shit happens with all so i don't think your going to get this unless your VIP.

i would suggest you to get an Android mobile, download required software and add all the numbers in BlackList so that they never reach you!!
or you can still go with cops making an complain with those numbers, i bet that would be 1 guy with many random numbers.
 
complain to the FBI that the policeman are asking bribe but this could be danger to your life, and you have to shell out a lot, i really mean a lot of cash to get private number besides the justification :)
 
Go to the police station with a hidden camera and a voice recorder. Explain your problem and ask'em to track the assholes instead of asking for private numbers. If they refuse, ask'em for private number facility.. Now, if they ask for bribe or anything which is against some policies, you can post that video on youtube , then submit it to anti- corruption commissioner. And we will support it via youtube views ;)
