Preventing Hacking/ddos attempts

Just googling i found an interested topic to prevent hackers and ddos.

It has a .htaccess program that helps in preventing hacking/ddos according to the thread owner.

Anyone tried it?

Preventing DDoS can be tricky. Of course the only play you have is to identify the malicious IPs and to have them blocked by your webhosting provider.
