Plugin for "Latest News"

Hello there, i'm looking for a plugin that can display the latest news (placed in the sidebar) but not necessarily being connected with the blog entries. Some times there are minor news which i need to display but it is not worth to create a new blog entry for all of those.

Must be working smoothly with 3.4 version. Thanks

u can use
ELI's Related Posts Footer Links and Widget plugin
it's a widget and make pages with the news u want, add them to the widget !

Here's a plugin that lets you display random text in the sidebar of your site:

You can put anything you want in it....latest news, announcements, etc.
