Yep it still sucks because all you did was add a bright color-white gradient behind it.
Focus on adding some detail to the logo itself.

Saying it's a logo you made implies that you made it from scratch, which you didn't.
So actually Kedzi was right in informing everybody else that it was a modified logo.
