Has anyone else gotten this message upon logging in to paypal?

"you have received 1,800euro or more in total payments to your paypal account in this calendar year and are therefore approaching our annual receiving limit of 2,500euro. Paypal is required by law to comply with European Union Anti-Money Laundering regulations by collecting information from customers when they reach this limit. Please go to the resolution centre for more information on what you need to do"

They ask for copies of a valid photo ID such as passport, driving license etc...

They want me to fax them these copies or use an upload feature they have and I'm told I have 130 or so days to do this before my account becomes restricted.

Well, I don't want to send those documents because I don't want to use this pp account for a while. But I'm just curious, what will happened when the 130 days will pass? What is Paypal account is restricted? They delete it? Or what?

As far as I understand it, you have 130 days to submit the documents. If you don't do so, they will permanently apply restriction on your account after which you can withdraw the available funds after 180 days of your account being limited.
They won't delete your account if you don't send the documents. They will just apply a restriction permanently which will restrict you from doing certain tasks such as sending money/withdrawing etc.
I would suggest you to send them the documents. If you want to use PayPal only for a while, submit the documents and when you want to close the account, you may do so.

Thank you for the answer.

Anyway, I have a Premier account (verified) but I use it very rarely...
I understand that they won't delete my account just put restriction on it. But, will it be deleted for long time inactivity? I will not use it in the future at all, I think. Is there an inactivity timeframe to delete account? Or, is it any fee for long time inactivity?

As far as I am concerned, they would never delete your account. This is to prevent your signup again.
They would just imply a permanent limitation which you cannot remove by sending the documents or so in the future and the account would be just useless.
Hope it helps!

After the 130 days, they probably change the status to 'restricted' and you won't be available for 180 days to use it.

Then after the 180 days they most likely will ask you again for the documents.

I don't think they will ever delete your account.

No. This has nothing to do with 180 days limitations.
I live in EU and i have been through this process already. After you have reached the limit of 2500 eur received (as specified in the notification sent to you) you wont be able to do anything until you dont verify your account sending them IDs and proof of residence. This limitations won't last for 180 days, they will last forever until you don't apply with their rule. As soon as you send them what they asked, you will have your account back with all its functions, not having to wait 180 days, 120 or whatever. I have had a account limited like this for over a year, i finally sent those IDs after 16 months (!) and now i have my account back.

Thanks for all of you guys for the valuable replies!

Iniuria, I'm not reached the limit, just "therefore approaching" it. But, it will be restricted in this case, too. And did you received any emails from them under this period? Because, I did not received anything.

So, If I don't want to use PayPal, I'm just simple not sending the documents, and leave it like Joomlaz suggested. Although, it won't be deleted. Hope, there is not any fees or charges because of inactivity.

Your PayPal account may be restricted or it may not. Why don't you want to send them the documents? Is it a privacy issue?
