Please try again with the newer version I've released with MariaDB 10.0.5 (Which is based off MySQL 5.6)
Just as side note. Magento database connector will need to be patched for it to work:

Will go to try it, but this patch is for "magento 2" not for "magento 1.8"
magento 2 is still under developer

Database connector should be similar. I've tested with Magento 1.7.0.2

I have updated the server to MariaDB 10.0.7
It may fix your problem.
