MyBB vs SMF vs phpBB - Which is the best?

Tbh i think it's a toss up between PhpBB and SMF... Two great scripts which can be easily customised.

phpBB is clearly the best. It's the one with the longest development history and if you look at big forums you see that - besides big paid software - phpBB is clearly the most popular. What I also like about phpBB is that they will support the Sphinx Search Indexer.

To choose between those three, it a tough thing to do. Everyone selects according to its purpose and its ability. My choice is phpBB as for me, phpBB is pretty simple to use, and I can install any plugin or modules I need.


P.S Not that long time ago, I wrote an article about free forum platforms and it's opportunities. I would appreciate if you take a look at it. Is it Justified to Use Free Forum Platform: SMF, MyBB or Drupal Forum?

phpBB looks horrid, i've always been a big fan of MyBB and it's themes. however, there seems to be a lot more mods available for SMF...
