Hello,

I'm N00B3R (a.k.a. "Cydex") and I'd like to auction off my movie- & torrentforum here.
The reason for the fact that I want to get the forum off my hands is because of legal reasons. Without doing anything, the forum is gaining attention & members day in day out just because the content we provide is free and high quality. As I can see that the ISP's in my country and the federal government block access to almost all torrentsites these days, I'm getting worried that one day they will come after my forum. My technical knowledge for securing the forum on bulletproof hosting isn't that advanced.
There is a story behind the forum thus I'm looking for a buyer that would take over the forum & domain incl. the current forum staff with the intention of continuing the growth. The reason for this being is that the current users were members on another forum that had about 50 k members but of which the administration sucked. (The admin just generated profit from the donations whilst using a regular shared hosting package which resulted in 80 % downtime. In the end, the previous admin just gave up and shut everything down, his input was next to nothing except for paying the relatively small bill and cashing in)
In other words, if you want to buy this forum, I'd really like you to continue the forum as is, at this moment I do everything out of my own pockets, the small donations are going straight to the payment of the server rent but there are multiple ways for you to generate cash out of this. (E.g. monthly subscriptions for premium content, paid advertising etc.)

About the forum:

The general idea of the forum is to provide all users with the best quality movies and series that are out there which saves them the time of looking for them. All torrents and links are downloaded by the mod crew first; they evaluate the quality and speed and then upload them to the board. No one except for uploaders, the crew and the administrators can upload torrents to the board to prevent the spreading of viruses. Most attachments are restricted to prevent shells to pass the security system.
Torrents are mainly found through external websites.

We also handle requests for about every media you can imagine: music, series and even software aren't a problem (we have our own "cracker" in the team).
In other words, the forum has potential but I don't have enough time and "guts" to continue expanding it.

Forum software:

The forum runs a legitimate and up-to-date version of IP.Board (InvisionPower) of which you will obtain the license after making the final purchase.
There is one basetheme and one dark theme (was requested by a user with visual issues seeing black on white) which I have edited to fit the general lay-out. (Nothing special though)
The spam service that you need to renew each 6 months is active until 01 Dec 2013 as well as general support you can get from IP.Board themselves.
Tapatalk has also been installed for easy mobile access. It was not really necessary since there is also a mobile theme available but I've put it there because users have requested it.

Statistics:

If you require more traffic information, please let me know so I can provide that to you.
Most traffic is generated through Google (people searching for movies, music, etc.). Some of the torrents we provide are unique and rare which sometimes is enough for people to make an account.
Google Adsense can not be added to the forum due to its nature. Never have I added banners or advertisements which resulted in a larger number of recurring visitors.
You can check the current amount of posts, users & threads when you visit the URL at the bottom of this thread.
I can assure you that all traffic is real and that I have not really performed any big SEO changes to the ones the system has implemented on its own. (IP.Board has really nice built-in SEO features)
We score first on Google if you type in Movie-HQ and also if you look for specific movies you will find us listed first.
I have never used AdWords campaigns, all traffic comes from search engines and up till this day, members still join the forum because they found out that we are the newer version of the previous one.

The mods:

Admin - Cydex - Me
Admin - Deadmeat - Biggest uploader, responsible for 90 % of the series uploaded and 70 % of the movies on the forum)

Super moderator - ethan97 - Normally very active and an administrator, has been demoted to moderator since she was very sick and can not be active on the forum for a while
Super moderator - rissoles - Uploader, was very active on the board, provides very good input on what's happening on the board but passed away December 2013
Super moderator - Stonegimp - Major uploader, GFX artist and friend of Deadmeat

These are good people and a loyal staff, even though sometimes they don't feel appreciated (almost all their free time goes into this forum), they like what they do for the community. What you do with the staff is up to you but I guarantee that if you take these guys out of their position, there is no forum anymore.

Extra:

I really don't want to sell the forum but the lack of time & legal restrictions oblige me to do this. The guys visiting the board as well as the current staff were so happy that there was a new alternative for the previous board with almost the same people running it. 2 days ago, someone that finally found the new board came to say hello and was so thankful! Even though it was my idea to create a new forum, I certainly couldn't do it without the others.
These are the reasons why I will not sell the board to someone that will not continue running it.
I will personally inform the mods and users as soon as possible when the deal is done.

Financial:

Donations are little to none, in the past there were a lot but they decreased since I made the mistake of giving lifetime premium membership (extra user options) to people who donated even if it's just $ 1. You can fix this by re-adjusting this to monthly subscriptions.
Servercosts are around $ 50/monthly for a dedicated server located in Romania, Europe and an off-site VPS back-up server. Updates are automatically performed each day at midnight.
The domainname is registered with an anonymous domain registrar until 16/10/2014 and can be renewed for € 9,95 a year.

Start Bid: $ 500
Buy It Now: $ 800
Quantity: 1
End Date: 28/05/2014
Accepted Payment Methods: MoneyBookers (Skrill) & Wire Transfer (IBAN & BIC will be provided privately)
Additional Stipulations and Requirements:
  • Payments will be made in full before I send you the log-in details and give more information and support through Skype
  • Bid in increments of $ 10
  • Bidding closes 28/05/2014 at 0:00 PM
  • Bidding in thread only, bids through PM are not accepted

Hello,

Thanks to Gavo we are now verified, I can tell that a lot of people have viewed this thread but no one took the time to reply.
I am wondering why that is, is it because the price is too high? I personally think that the price is just right for a forum that big with so much potential.
Or is it just not the thing you are looking for? I am very flexible and am willing to make several changes to make the forum more appealing to potential buyers.
Please provide me with some good feedback and I'll get back to you.

Kind regards,

Cydex
