Most recommended mods for vbulletin 3.8?

Personally, I don't see a reason to install mods unless you need to or have a reason too. Just because other sites use them does not mean you have too.

From the vBulletin forums:
vB Optimise is an extension to vBulletin that allows several amounts of globally requested and partially requested data to be cached on-the-fly in multiple ways, effectively improving page loading times, server resources and database resources. Additionally vB Optimise can point out settings on your forum that could be improved to get additional performance and speed.
 
vboptimize isn't always good tho as it is caching data that wasn't meant to be cached so it can cause some problems.

i say the most recommended ones are not to use any but if you do make sure you use fully supported ones and you download them directly from vb.org
