Then we can rule out PHP related errors... I'm not sure how vB is attempting to get the image, but the only other option I can think of is the server is preventing access out to grab the image. You may need to talk to your host and have them look into the issue.

Nothing in the error log points to a problem with getting the image via url... Try this for me. Delete error_log so that there is nothing in it, then attempt to upload images via url from a couple of different sources, then post the error_log.

Bacialy, what you are trying to do can't be done. At least not with doing a lot of hacking. Domains/Sub-domains point to IPs, so the only way to use access a site on another server using your main domain is to use a sub-domain.
