List of ips what spam/ddos - Please add yours if you have a list

of course it will stop you from getting ddos'd if they are using a botnet....

also and idc I will risk that the likelyness of some other guy having the same ip as someone else who probably will never even go on a warez site being banned

Banning their IP and showing a "You have been banned page" will still use up system resources, so if someone is DDoSing you banning their IP(s) won't make it go away. But then it depends how they are doing it - HTTP requets or a good old SYN flood. You might get slightly better results banning the IPs at a firewall level, or even better get yourself a decent Cisco threat detecting router (or find a host that uses them).

Install a good program on your server like ddos deflate and change a few default settings. Make the banlist unlimited.

It will block any ddos. Of any size. If you use the correct settings.
We have faced DDOS attacks of over 7gbit on single servers.

Next to that, make sure you notify authorities and send them the proof. Although they might not take action right away, data is stored for later use. They will be caught eventually. Its the echelon.

if you drop the ip from the server using telnet they can't connect to any site on the machine

I am not looking for advise on how to stop ddos attacks I am providing a list for people who are like me and want to help each other, even if what we are doing may seem pointless to you, we dont care?!

you probably know more about server side crap, hell you may even know more about ddosing but this is going offtopic, I want the thread to remain of ip blacklisting!
