Wtf!!!!

Is it just on my board or are you all have problems with those members who are only posting links who are masked?

Like for instance :

Code:
http://securedlinks.******/

I have asked several members ( and yes , several times too ) for changing those links, but they dont even bother to change them, and just keep posting in the way they were doing.

Give me some comments/ instructions , on how you deal with that.

Strict.. that's what you need to be.

On my board.. I just have a general rule against link protectors. Whether these link protectors are legit, or phish attempts. I don't care to check that. If the member is trusted, I'll kindly ask them to edit their post, etc.

If the member is new... uses an autobot to post in my forum, and has never introduced himself.... well.. he/she gets a BAN. Anyone else, BAN!

No infractions, just BAN!

Additionally you can always censor those links, so their posts would be useless, also make a global announcement about censored links that members should avoid such posts, and if they see someone trying to "bypass" it to not download and report.

With bypass I mean when the poster tries something like site name.com with a "remove space" note.

Hai

You're welcome.
If you don't have many members of staff to handle reports, I suggest you hire more staff :)

Thanks.

you got a point there, but its so damn hard to find some good staff, who knows what he/she is doing and understand what the responsibility of the job (moderator, super moderator)
I have plenty of staff but none is rely active in the last few weeks.

you should force them to be active. on my forum, all staff visit atleast 1ce a day unless they're on holiday. else they lose thier position.

best thing to do is bin the link protectors, and censor the URLs.

Maybe they have exams :P

You have to give members a chace to prove they're good for ''x job''. When I look for staff I usually look out for:
- Activeness on forum (Participates in site discussions etc)
- Professionalism
- Are they friendly?
- List is on-going.

Post an announcement saying staff applications are now open it might help.

But how can you force someone to be active?? Will you not risk the fact that when you demote your staff members, they will get angry with your and then they will get back to you in some sort of way.

@ Hawk : yes I have even set up a modification on my board to sign up for staff. And indeed there where some reactions on it, but when I promoted them to (for instance) junior moderator, then they never came back . So I am still convinced that good staff is hard to find ;)
Not that I am complaining on my staff, but still,... It can always BE better. <_<
And indeed, it could be so that they have exams, I totally forget that sometimes, that most of all members are still going to school. As it has been 11 years that I finished my school. :D

well i often make the people that post ALL THE TIME and have posted a lot of downloads on a daily basis, but then usually they dont post that many after so its sumtimes better to make it SUPER HARD for them to get the position so they dont stop posting...

idk i just noticed ppl slack off and stop being as active after, its like "i got the mod position so now i dont have to be as active or post as much"

-_-

I've had issues with members posting topics which had links to - crappy - link protection sites. After looking into it I noticed these topics are made by 'bot accounts'. Check out the IP's and you'll prolly see quite a few member use the same IP. Its a bot so I'd filter the IP(s).
