Hiya webmasters!

I've noticed loads of people are asking about link checker bots so I thought to be helpful I would compile a review of all the link checker bots there are and how good they are! Hope it helps, and if an admin/mod is kind enough, please make this a sticky:D

Hawke's Link checker bot for PHPBB2/3:
Current version: 1.2
Website: Use the WBB forum to get support

Upside:
This is the version used by warez-bb to check there links, obviously since the creator of this is part of the wbb developer team, he will be highly experienced and talented and you know that it will work (because warez-bb have no room for bad scripts)

Downside:
  • Links must be coded. This is a huge downside if you are already running a forum and you dont code your links! The links will not work or display properly if not!!
  • Will only check link on the first page, So if someone provided alternative links on the second page, it will not be checked.
  • Installation is quite tricky
Features:
  • Checks rapidshare links.
  • Will automatically move dead topics to a forum you have dedicated for dead links (but you have to contact a mod to move it back)
  • Will PM the author of the post when it finds a topic of his/hers with dead links. Also provides a link to edit the post with.
  • Easy configuration in the admin control panel
  • Changes a links color to red or green depending on whether it is dead or not (this is what mucks up the link if it is not coded)

Future Versions: In V1.4 there will be a link to automatically revive a topic from the dead links forum.

Other Forums Link Checkers:

I've been looking into link checker for other forums, But i've not been getting very far, However, To say that one could be made for another forum is untrue!

I have looked at the phpbb3 version and noticed some moderate php that checks the link using rapidshare own linkchecker! Meaning that it is possible to make one for another forum type!

Im pretty sure it is: Hawke happens to be a member of the warez-bb development team, throught the script he keeps refering back to warez-bb and the support link he provides is a warez-bb topic.

Also the checker works in almost exactly the same way as warez-bb. Im pretty sure coolyou didnt do all that by himself! He probably just was the one to announce it?

The version of hawke suckk !! 0% security!!
I wont talk about the phpbb3 version , he use phpbb2 function ROFL !!
